I called the hotel a week prior to arrival, to request one of the Harbour View Rooms as I was planning on proposing on the night of our stay. I popped in the day before to ask for champagne to be put in the room. On arrival the following day, without giving anything away the receptionists advised that we had been upgraded to the Penthouse Suite.
The Suite was stunning with a great view of the Opera House. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, and our stay was an absolute pleasure.

This hotel will not please everyone, as the previous reviews clearly show. We wanted to stay in the Rocks area, so that we were close to all the restaurants and tourist activities. As the area has historic significance, we wanted a hotel that was in keeping with the old world charm, not a large highrise temple of modern extravagance. This hotel met our expectations. Our deluxe room was not large, but adequate. It had all the amenities we wanted. The bathroom was small, but we accept the fact that this is a conversion of an old warehouse and row houses. It worked fine. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. Some would argue that you can pay the same price and stay in a large, modern hotel. We enjoyed our stay because it had the old world style and great location we wanted.

Hotel was definitely misrepresented. It's nothiing more than a Holiday Inn, if that. The Four Seasons is right down the street and cost about as much.

It took us 3 rooms and an upgrade to manage our 5night stay. I wouldn't rate this as terrible but maybe i'm too polite. Thankfully when you are in Syndey you are not in your room much. The lower floors are dark and although not damp, have a feeling of dampness. My husband occassionally suffers from a bad chest and he knew he could not stay in these room. We finally got a room on the top floor which was better, not great, but better. The hotel is in a very busy area so if you are a light sleeper I suggest you don't stay here or have some good ear plugs! The only thing good about this hotel is the location. It is near some great bars and a fabulous restaurant just around the corner where you cook your own meat on the barb and the vege's are great too. I would not stay in this hotel again.
