This is the best holiday destination we have ever been on! Cancun is such a gorgeous place! Like many others we checked the hotel on this site before booking &I was quite worried, but had a great time!
Disadvantages
The moody man on reception, who didn’t give us a very warm welcome, but it was ok coz all the other staff are lovely, especially the restaurant staff!
The room was quite small & we found out from others that you have to moan a lot to move& we could not be bothered coz I wanted to unpack & settle.
No entertainment during the day, other than volleyball&footie, where as in the other hotels it was quite lively, but it was nice 2 have some peace &quiet
Sea was not great compared to other spots, but it did the job of cooling you down& the hotel was still in a beautiful location.
Bar closed too early! At 11
Advantages
Due to the hotel being small we made loads of new friends (Thanks to Jules&Graham, who made our hol so fun!)
Hotel lovely and clean, fresh sheets& towels daily.
The staff were soooooooo friendly and sweet& remembered your drinks.
The entertainment on the night was organised daily& it was all V.I.P where you went down in a coach with everyone from the hotel, got your own spot in the club aswell& sometimes tables, where you would have your own waiter for the night.
Amazing Restaurant. The only one in the sea out of all the hotels, I don’t know how anyone could fault it, it was so pretty, looking out to the sea. The food was good, a lot of people moaned about the variety, but we thought there was plenty! Breakfast is great, with a chef making fresh omelettes & you got snacks in between.
Massive shower, plenty of room. Tip = for hot water turn the small tap on at the bottom&keep it on!
The hotel is the last hotel on the trip, but it is only 10 mins away from the town & you can get a bus for 30p & they are extremely regular (not like our buses)
A variety of people stop her & they are really down to earth, we meet, English, Irish, Mexicans, Americans etc.
Its very cheap to stop here & worth the money! I would recommend it for younger people or those young at heart who enjoy fun& meeting new people. If your not into clubbing then the bar is not much good for you, as you will have to have an early night. A lot of people moaned when we were there, but we just though what are you moaning at, your in Mexico for god sake!
THE DOLPHIN DISCOVERY IS AMAZING, ASK REP. i WOULD DO IT A T THE OTHER ISLAND, IS ALOT NATURAL& NICER FOR THE DOLPHINS BECAUSE THEY ARE IN THE SEA. excaret is a good excursion also, lots of animals&good shows!

We just got back from spending 10 days in the Yucatan. It was an amazing trip! Booked Imperial Las Perlas for the 1st night through Hotwire as we were arriving late in the night and needed a place to sleep.
The hotel was so much worse than expected. The room was claustrophobic. The air conditioning barely worked (it was at least 30 celcius at night) and the bed springs creaked all night.
We generally pick cheap to moderate hotels to stay in and don't expect much from a room. But this dump was unbearable. Thankfully, we left early next morning for Playa Del Carmen and did not have to endure another night in the awful place.
If you are spending just the night in Cancun, I would suggest looking for hotels downtown. On the way back, we stayed at 'Hotel Colonial' just off Tulum Ave. For 400 pesos for a double, air-conditioned room, it was a superb stay - clean, comfortable beds and a nice location.

Very disappointed with hotel, food which was repetitive and served in a shack on the water which we nicknamed Tenko hut. The location was farthest away from town centre but buses ran every 5 minutes. Most staff friendly for 1st week particularly El Sabio barman, but quite rude and hostile 2nd week. Got change of room 2nd day as it was very noisy with banging doors and traffic. Myself and other guests were constantly complaining of rooms, lack of activities, sunbeds and tables and chairs at bar area. Maybe ok for 18-30s but not for families or couples looking for a bit of relaxation. Concierge quite grumpy and not very helpful, possibly due to all the complaints he was receiving. Met a lot of nice people whilst at hotel, but if we visit Cancun again it certainly won`t be the Imperial Las Perlas. Will check gazetteer next time of booking and will gladly pay that bit extra for the many nicer hotels in Cancun.

stayed there for 2 weeks and the hotel was fine. It is dated in comparison to most other hotels but its very clean with the sheets and towels being changed every day.
staff are very friendly like all the mexican amigos.
food was nice but would have liked more variety. you get mexican, italian, caribbean and then international repeated over. ended up eating out for a change.
breakfast and lunches are fine, something for everyone.
my only gripe is that the bar shuts at 11. would have liked it to stay open until at least 12, poss 1am.
wouldnt recommend it if you have kids. nothing really for them to do during the day.
the hotel is the first in the zone so its quiet. you will need to get a bus to the busier areas which only costs 30p each way. they are every 5 mins at the most. never get a taxi as they will be looking for at least a ?5 upwards.
dont book your excursions through the reps. they will try and put the fear into you and say you will be ripped off by the vendors on the street. i used them for 5 different excursions and had no problems at all plus they were alot cheaper. other people in the hotel did the same again with other vendors and also had no problems. there are vendors all along the hotel zone so you will have no trouble finding them. we used demo tours at playa tourgas. look out for it on the bus. opposite aquaworld.
you get what you pay for at the end of the day and i did find it good value. some people expect 5 star without paying the premium for it..
