While searching for accommodation in Launceston that would suit 3 adults I found the Adina Place Apartments offered 2 bedroom self-contained apartments for less than a motel room with a double and single bed. The apartments are well located and you can easily walk to the city centre, Tamar Gorge and Aurora Stadium. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. The apartment was perfect for our needs - quite spacious, clean and well equipped. Every room/apartment has a balcony with great views over Launceston. My only criticism would be that when they 'made-up' the room they didn't clean the bathroom at all. Apart from that, it was great and excellent value for money.

I stayed twice at this apartment hotel, in February 2008 and after returning from a tour in March 2008.
My studio apartment was bright, very clean, bed comfortable, good cooking facilities with conventional oven, cooktop and microwave, refrigerator, matching cutlery and crockery, and balcony with view over Launceston. (ALL appartments have a balcony with views over Launie).
The hosts, Pat and Bob, are very friendly and helpful.
Due to a 'longer stay,' I was given a discount for my second stay, which was nice!
The Mall is only a few minutes away and a supermarket 'Coles' about 10 mins.
Launceston is hilly and Adina is just about on top of York Street.
Great pub just down the road (on Saturday nights a bit noisy though).
Roman baths around the corner.
Adina is conveniently located in my opinion.
Would I stay there again?
Most definitely!
Re: Transport to and from airport:
Taxi from airport to Launie is between $ 32.00 and $ 34.00, about 15 min. about 13km.
Our taxi driver took three unrelated people, switched the meter off and charged everybody $ 34.00 !
He made one trip and $ 102.00 !
It appears that others do this too! If you don't like the arrangement, take the airport shuttle ($ 11.00, I think).
Sometimes there are not many taxis, and the shuttle is not operating, so this is a rip off !

We stayed at Adina Place for seven nights to attend the fabulous cycling carnivals running at La Trobe, Launceston and Devonport. The bikes and us were made very welcome. The 2 bedroom apartment was excellent value for money. Please note the photo of the property on the website does it no favours! Reception staff were outstanding: friendly, kind and nothing was too much trouble. The location is quiet and picturesque. Pleasant barbeque facilities made "eating in" an attractive option.
The nearby bell chiming the hours added to the charm of our stay.
Well done to the managers, and thank you :-)

Adina Place is an affordable option for accomodation in Launceston. Although the rooms are a bit small, they each have a balcony looking over the city with some great views. The owners are very friendly and will do anything they can to make your stay more enjoyable. We contacted the owners directly and were able to get the same price as online booking agencies. Because we had booked more than one night we got a breakfast basket with bread, cereal, juice etc on the first night. If you want to have them again you have to order them for the approx cost of $8. Make sure if you are going out to leave the 'Please service the room' sign out. Adina Place is quite close to the city and is within walking distance of shopping, pubs etc. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants an affordable place to stay.

We have now stayed here twice this year and will stay again mainly because of where it is situated. It is easy walking distance to Launceston City Centre and all rooms have a lovely outlook over the city. We stayed here with our two teenage children and baby. Apartments are clean and well stocked with utensils, extra bedding, towels etc. Apartments are not spacious but are large enough for short time accommodation. Staff are friendly and helpful. Only criticism we had was that the chairs in the lounge area are very uncomfortable. Other than that accommodation is good value for money.
