The Majestic has very nice grounds. It was always kept clean. We stayed in jr. suites which were also very nice and clean. The beds and pillows were hard, but after a long day in the sun we fell asleep pretty quick. The staff was always friendly. The restaurants were very clean and attractive. The food for the most part was good. Everything seems to be second rate, compared to the american quality food. The drinks were the same story. The mixers were unknown and tasted bad. The vodka seemed to be the best alcohol choice. There was no "COKE" product, although they offered what they had as such. The bottled water was good. They have a construction project going on next to the majestic, an expansion I believe. If you do not want to be awoken early in the a.m. by hammers, drills, etc.... do not get rooms facing this construction.

Stayed here for 6 days for a family event everything was very nice. The pool is fantastic and the beach is just steps away. The food is great at every meal, however, service had a few issues at the seafood restaurant one night. The all inclusive liquor may be slightly watered down. A great place to stay all the same.

It's been about 2 weeks since we went to the Majestic and don't normally write reviews, but seeing so many negative comments I felt compelled. It was me, my wife and our 2 teenage boys( 15 and 18).
We booked through Continental Airlines Vacation and was very happy doing it this way. We flew from Newark to Punta Cana non-stop. They contract with VIP services who were waiting for us right after we got the luggage.
We had a private mini-van pick us up, as part of the package, and took us directly to the Majestic...no delay, no bus and no problems what so ever.
Our check in was again flawless. We were introduced to Annmarie who is absolutely fantastic and could not do enough for us. What a great job she does...thanks to her for making our vacation extra special.
We had 2 rooms in building 2, our sons on the 2nd floor, us on the 3rd floor. Nice view overlooking the pool.
I do agree with some that the rooms were somewhat musty and the addition of a room deodorizer did little to help...but it is not bad at all. People are making way too much of this.
I can not understand the comments with the bathroom...it is spacious and easy to navigate. Ok, so the toilet is behind a glass door...deal with it...you're on vacation. The shower is huge and fantastic for couples. We used bottled water for brushing our teeth.
We always had enough towels...as a matter of fact, they kept giving us extra towels which was much appreciated...we did not even have to ask. The rooms were always cleaned by noon, except for 1 day where they were cleaned by 3pm. I must say I was very impressed how clean they got the rooms. Each morning I saw all the housekeepers ready to start their work day.
Ok...on to the food.
After reading the reviews on this board, I was afraid that we were going to either be sick the whole time or be so disgusted by the meals that we would not eat anything. This could not be further from the truth. First off people, lets be realistic...this is all inclusive. Anyone here eat at a all you can eat buffett in the US? Of course you have...and do you think that you need to eat everything on the buffett or everything needs to be perfect for you? That is an absurd thought...because buffetts are made to fill you up...not all are a gastric pleasure palace.
Let me give you my "real" rundown on each place we ate:
Each breakfast we ate at the main buffett area...this was very good and had a huge variety.
Most lunches we ate at the same main buffett area...each day there were new items that made it interesting. We ate light for lunch and were never disappointed. Now...is the pizza like the stuff you find at authentic restaurants in the US...no it is not. However there was so much to choose from...I never had a problem...neither did my family.
Japanese restaurant - very good and filling...probably way too much food and it was very tasty.
French Restaurant - again, very good food and service was great.
Steak Restaurant - excellent, ate there twice...never disappointed
Seafood Restaurant - excellent again, ate there twice
None of us got sick, had the runs or anything. We drank bottled water mostly. My wife did eat the salads and both my older son and me ate the fruits. The only stomach ache was eating too much food sometimes.
So overall, these negative food reviews are without merit. We had some really great meals and again I was perplexed at the reviews. We did eat at 6:30pm each night and never ever encountered crowds. As for a comment I saw about flies in the outdoor restaurants...I laughed...I guess they have never eaten outside before. Where I live in NY...if you eat outside at night you need to fight the flys and mosquitos...I think these creatures are everywhere, not just Punta Cana.
Ok...now onto the beach. Beautuful...no bugs like I read. We used repellent one day because I was paranoid from what I read...what a waste. We did not encounter any issues from bugs at the beach. The water was a bit choppy in the afternoon for 3 days...but you could still easily swim...the water was not as clear. On our last 4 days the water was very calm and was crystal clear. We snorkeled everyday off the beach and feed so many fish...it was like being in an aquarium. My younger son loved it and we snorkeled twice a day, at least. They don't like you taking bread out of the restaurant, so just put it in your pocket if you plan on feeding the fish. Oh...we never had an issue finding lounge chairs.
The pool...super nice and fun. If I did have two negative comments... the concrete apron around the pool had a lot of potholes that should have been patched....it is sometimes hard to walk on the concrete in some areas. Also...they need to have more people cleaning up after the guests who drop their cups all over the place. I found cups all over the place.
The staff does an amazing job at keeping everything super clean in some much of the resort,,,so I was a bit surprised that the pool area got a bit unkept by the end of the day.
We went on two trips:
Macau Crazy Wheels ATV tour...in a word....FANTASTIC. If you are looking for a real fun time...do the ATV trip. You will love it. Not going to spoil it for you...it is fun!
We went on a snorkel trip too but I forgot the name of the tour. It was a lot of fun too and everyone enjoyed.
They really do a great job at the Majestic and was very satisfied and felt I got my money's worth. If you are expecting a Ritz Carlton...stay home...you are not paying for that. You get great value at a super nice place. I would not hesitate recommending this resort.

Our stay at the Majestic was from July 10-18th. We are a family of four, plus my parents who are about 70.
Upon our arrival we were greeted with cool cloths for our face, and a cocktail to drink. I thought this was a nice touch, and a great way to start a vacation. Check in process was easy and relatively quick. We were all in building 2, my parents on the bottom floor, (which they liked), and us on the 2nd floor. I had requested a room with two full size beds for the four of us, but apparently they were full, and we had to take a room with a king size bed, and a pull out. We slept three of us in the king bed, (as my kids, 11 and 13, girl and boy will not sleep together), for two nights until we could get moved two days later. We then moved to room 2242, which was a great location, with a view of the pool and the ocean, and most inportantly two beds.
I thought the food was good, with a hugh selection. Of course it is different from home, but that is part of being in another country, trying new things and experiences. My parents on the other hand did not like the food at all, and had complanint and dislike for almost everything they ate. I think older Americans will have more difficulty with the food, especially if they have not traveled outside of the country much.
Our room was great, very clean and roomy, but lacks privacy, epecially when there is four people sharing. The toilet was not a problem for us, and in other reviews I have read.
The beach is AWESOME, and what we primarily went on this trip for. The water is very warm, (78-80 degrees), and we brought our own inflatable rings, and checked out boogie boards, and rode the waves for many, many hours. My kids loved this the most, as well as the spectacular pool. The pool was so warm, and it bordered on being hot at times. It is great for kids that don't like cold water. It was absolutely the warmest pool i have ever been in.
Be careful around the chairs on the beach, (under the palapas), as my husband cut his foot on a piece of glass that was on the side of the chair. It required a visist to the resort doctor for disinfecting and bandaging, but thankfully no stiches. It did put a damper on the last two days of our vacation, as the doctor advised that he should not go into the water with the cut on his foot, especially the pool.
Luckily, he had done all the activities like scuba, snorkel, and play numerous games of beach vollyball prior to the incident.
Regarding scuba and snorkeling: really not the place to go if you want to see a lot of variaties of fish or corals. The reefs are just ok, as we have seen a lot better on other vacations. Also, the sea can be a little rough a times, which was a bit unnerving for my 11 year old, who was not very comfortable on the resort snorkeling trip we did, even though she is a very good swimmer.
The swells were such, that on occasion they would go over the snorkel, and she would swallow water.
This was a two hour trip, and was $35.00 pp. The boat ride out to the reef was fun, as we were able to see a lot of the coast on the way.
I would like to extend a big Hello and Thank you to Marisol M. She was the most helpful person to us at the resort. She is the guest relations intern, and a super nice person. Sincerely cares about the guests, and tries to help you in any way she can. She is always pleasant, and smiles, and she was key in getting us moved into the room we had requested. She is most visible at the main buffet, as the hostess, as well as any other resturant that needs her. She is on site from morning to night, and it seems like she never has a day off. She's great!
In closing, we had a great time, despite the few incidentals that happened, and would say keep an open mind, and just go with the flow, and you'll have a great time...
P.S.- The lobby bar, and the beach bar had the best drinks. Swim up bar was poor, unless you just drink beer.
