This hotel has a very small foyer area, which can make checking in and out difficult. My room was clean, but there is an odour of cigarette smoke in the whole hotel.
I was there for business with some other people, none of us were put on the same floor. I was woken up with drunken tourists shouting in the hallway, another colleague had the same problem.
We only had breakfast in the restaurant, it was OK, nothing special. Coffee was not very good. The bar has some cocktails, but nothing special.
This hotel was OK for one night, but I would not have wanted to stay there any longer.

I booked a Romance Package at the last minute last week for myself and hubby to get away for one night. The photos on the website looked fantastic so I thought we would try it.
For $260 we got a 3 course meal in the cafe, champers and strawberried on arrival, breaky in morning and a King room.
Check in was ordinary...no smiling, and i was going to bed given a Queen room, but i pushed and stated that on their website it said "King room". Had to take our own luggage to our room, no-one offered to help though concierge were just standing around.
The room was horrible...on the 4th floor with a suppossed corner view OF TOPS OF OTHER BUILDINGS!! AND AIRCONDITIONING UNITS!
The smell of the room almost made me pass out. Both my husband and I are smokers, however having one smoke at night does not constitute how bad the smell in this room was. The floor was filthy, i ended up with black feet because it obviously wasnt vacummed properly. The strawberries and champers were not there...had to call reception and they came...however the strawberries were rotten and tiny...just a joke.
The bath (and i was excited to have one, because we are renovating at the moment) was mouldy and looked like it hadnt been cleaned in who knows how long.
I hardly slept all night due to the smell of the room and ended up weezing all the next day. Normally I am not one to write a bad review, but I just had to with this place.
the meal in the cafe was quite good for the value included as was the breakfast in the morning. the staff act like they dont care, as did the Manager lady when I complained in the morning...was suppossed to check out at 1pm, we got out of there at 8am...stayed less than 10 hours!!!!!
A waste of money, i am terribly upset with the state of the hotel rooms and the service at this hotel. It looks great on their website, but a joke inside. There are better packages that include similar options at newer hotels in town...next time I'll know better.

Stayed for four days in the Parkview on a business trip. Its stuck in between the city and St Kilda and there is not a lot there, but there is easy access to the tram to get around.
The hotel is just shabby - no other word for it. The lobby may have had a lick of paint but the rooms are in major need of a refurb.
The gym is a bit of a joke, and don't even think about going in that plunge/whirlpool! When I walked past, someone had just emptied the contents of their bowels in it. Twenty minutes later and people were happily cavorting in it again. Lets just say there was no time for a proper drain / clean / refill.
So it was adequate, just. I won't be staying there again.

We had a family size room with a King Bed and 2 Singles. It appears there is only one room per floor this size. The room had all the standard facilities expected in a 4-star hotel. The furnishings and fittings are showing their age but not broken down. Not that we actually switched it on but the TV was unexpectedly small.
Staff were all friendly staff and the valet parking at $10/night was fair enough.
Unfortunately the exhaust vent in the bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned for years. The build up of dust had reached the point where it was falling down in clumps. If this is indicative of cleaning standards it is very disappointing and made it impossible for us to rate this hotel more highly.
