I spend a lot of time in hotels and it is so refreshing to find a hotel that cares about your needs and has a fantastic atmosphere.
If you are in Rockhampton stay at the Plaza

I've travelled to Rocky regularly for the past three years, and the Plaza's my digs of choice. The new ownership has given the place a new lease on life. The friendly staff put an emphasis on guest security and friendly service. The food's more than worth staying for, rooms are tiday and clean, best XXXX on tap in Eastern Qld... just gets better every time I stay. Will keep coming back, for sure.

Visited last in early August, 2007. I have been to Rockhampton a couple of times and have been realy impressed with the quality, service and price of Rockhampton Plaza Hotel particularly.
The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and the beds are very comfortable!
I always eat at the restaurant.. the food is amazing!
The bar is a great place to socialise and meet up with friends over a few drinks with a great big plasma tv!
The staff are always friendly and ready to help you out.
I would recommend this hotel, they are doing a great job! Everytime I visit there have been improvements made under the new management/ownership!

Rockhampton Plaza was part our our east-coast trip from Sydney to Cairns. We stayed there for one night because it was the only Rockhampton location, our travel agent could offer. This year it has been sorted out. I know why! The hotel is well situated near Highway One with a gloomy car-park behind the building (free of charge). Rockhampton Plaza was the worst hotel we saw in Australia. The disappointment started with the women behind the front-desk. She was not very interested in arriving guests. I think her last smile was back in the 90's. An old, bad-smelling lift got us to our floor where the room seemed not to be bad in the first moment. But then we realized the disgusting smell from the bathroom. There seemed to be a connection with the kitchen on the ground floor because there was a smell of chips and old fat. Even the towels smelled really, really bad. We took this as a warning not to visit the restaurant. The aircon was very loud and inefficient and the TV small. A good thing was that they provided in-house-movies. There was also a stunning view over to the cathedral.
Rockhampton is a boring, inhospitable town. Beware of drunken young aborigines in the evening! Fitroy river looks nice from the walk but the best thing is leaving Rockhampton.

Stopped in whilst passing through on our honeymoon. We stayed in one of the top floor rooms which were clean and fairly modern. The bar staff were quick and did not have to wait long for dinner which was above average.
Staff were friendly and efficient at checkin and checkout and helped us get on the internet to check our emails.
Will stay again whenever in the region.
