I booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary. The website photos made it look terrific. We didn't realize that we were checking into the Norman Bates hotel. We arrived around midnight, traveling from Texas on the way to Florida for our family vacation. We timed it to arrive on our anniversary, excited that I had picked a really GREAT ONE for this special occasion. The person at the front desk to freaky to say the least. After checking in, the man took us to the room. On the way to the room, we saw dishes of cat food on the floor in the hallways and hundreds of dead crickets everywhere. We got to the room and it was discustingly dirty. My wife and kids said that they were NOT going to sleep in the freaky, discussingly dirty place and we left. I went to the front desk and told the man that I wanted a refund; that we were leaving. We hadn't even been in the room 10 minutes. He said no problem, that he hadn't even "run it through yet for the charge" so we were OK on that. When we got back from vacation, sure enough, it showed up on our credit card statement. He HAD billed us! DON'T STAY HERE. You will regret it.

What a wonderful hotel! I enjoyed every part of our stay. This hotel seems to have been an old plantation house, renovated into a hotel. The rooms, each named after a different flower, each bosted a different decor. Interior corridors led us to our rooms, overlooking a pretty pond and bridge to the pool. A beautiful lobby was the location of an afternoon tea every day and a gorgeous dining room held a free contintental breakfast buffet every morning. The HI Express brags about its cinnamon rolls but they have nothing on the Magnolia Plantation. Specialty sausage, fresh biscuits and gravy, grits, pastries, homemade jams and jellies, and made-to-order eggs. The owner is a crochety old man and his wife is... a little overbearing. The rest of the staff, however, was wonderful and extremely helpful. I recommend this hotel to everyone!

I booked my daughters wedding and reception here. I had heard many negative things and some positive, but never expected this to be the most awful wedding I could have imagined due to no communication, lack of respect, very outdated surroundings and complete lack of support from staff. The manager/owner, was probably the rudest employee/attendant on site. Her lack of business experience was more than evident. As a business owner and a manager of a multi million dollar company moving into the area, I learned and will express to anybody I come in contact with the most awful experience we dealt with for some time to come. I strongly suggest you spend that kind of money with a reputable, updated, experienced company and do not allow your child or yourselves dream day to be ruined. My last word of advice...DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME NOR MONEY ON THIS UN RENOVATED NURSING HOME!!!

AM I DREAMING?????PINCH ME QUICK!!! My wife and I spent the weekend at probably the most charming motel in Gulfport!! The room was a double queen suite and had a livingroom with T.V. as you entered. A spacious bathroom and large bedroom that featured cherry bedroom furniture with glass tops ,comfy beds .and lace sheers on the windows. The carpet and paint were newish and every thing was clean. The enclosed walkways to the rooms were comfortable and surrounding beauty was breath taking!! Tea time was at 4:00 with homemade cookies. What a treat!! Rum punch (That's what I'm talking about.) was served at 5:00. Free Southern style breakfast buffet with homemade sausage, grits, and fresh cinnamon rolls served each morning . Live unrestricted animals roam the well taken care of grounds, We saw squirels, peacocks, ducks, (three kinds), and fed them biscuits we had lifted from the buffet. We sat on the front porch and rocked in rocking chairs listening to the different bullfrogs croaking in the front pond and enjoying the night breese. The staff were both friendly and helpful. All interior furnishings were old Florida style and the walls were painted with beautiful shades of pastels. The walls were adorned with art work that depicted the southern environment. We both felt that we had never been so charmed by a motel.....EVER.

I was told by friends about Magnolia Plantation and decided to try there breakfast and take a look at the grounds.. I was very impressed and booked a suite for me and my fiance.. It was such a wonderful experience.. Room had been recently remodeled and it was lovely and the employee's were great and we also spent several hours at the pool which we were never bothered and it was great... I would recomend this hotel to anyone who just wants something elegant and quiet.. Wonderful for weddings or even meetings.. I will be sending all my friends and relatives who come to visit tio this lovely place..
