Not as good as expected

We stayed one night at the Hotel Santa Anita before beginning our trip on El Chepe. The hotel is modern and quite good looking from the street with a lobby restaurant and travel agency. Our room ($110+ tax) was small but clean and modern. There were problems however with the hot water - we were assured when we checked in there would be hot water and after we found none, the hotel again promised it would be provided but never delivered. Also, the hotel at first told us there was no hotel shuttle service to the train station, after we pressed the desk clerk, he reluctantly said it could be arranged. The hotel van did drop us off at the train station, but only shortly before the train left the station, we had to scurry to make the train before it departed. Our room was supposed to be "non-smoking" but apparently this option does not exist in this hotel. There was no internet access in the hotel lobby.
I would try another hotel next time.

Hotel is centrally located in Los Mochis. It is an upscale facility with a restaurant and bar. Room was nice and clean, but pricey for what is was. Of course, I probably was not going to get a great rate given I walked in with no reservation at 8 at night looking for a room. Regardless, I think it was a good choice all things considered and I felt safe, The advertised wireless internet service is not actually available in a good portion of the rooms. I ended up having to take my laptop to the lobby to access a signal. Had a nice dinner in the restaurant and an attentive waiter.
This is a major agricultural region of Mexico and with it comes a lot of insects. While I don't recall being bit at the hotel, I was feasted upon during my brief time outside at the airport. A can of insect repellant would be a good addition to anyone's suitcase that is headed for Los Mochis.
Expect to pay 200 pesos each way for a cab to and from the airport to the hotel. Time each way is about 20 minutes.

Comfortable with Fabulous staff!

Comfortable hotel, with nice rooms, and with an absolutely fabulous staff! I got an AAA discount, which cut the usually $90 and some to about 60 pesos a night. A deal! Located in the center of Los Mochis, it features a (slightly pricey) good restaurant. The staff, however, was amazing. The people at the front desk helped with everything from directions, to help with a car rental in the face of an oncoming hurricaine while I was in another town (too long a story to go into) above and beyond their job. ... The hotel also has a room with internet connections, and two women who help with everything from getting copies of things made (for a fee), to proofreading a letter for the proper Spanish formalities (no fee). One of the waiters in the restaurant eveh offered to (and did) lend me a book he thought Id find interesting about the history there.
As a woman traveling alone, and first time to Los Mochis, I found the price, the creature comforts and the people made this an ideal place to stay. Within a block and a half of the bus terminal.

This is a good hotel with a good restaurant. The best part of our stay was their willingness to carry us in their bus through a warren of twisting unlit streets to the train station at 5 AM so as to have us on hand for our 6AM departure to Creel.
