The quest in Launceston was better than we expected. We used wotif.com and got a great deal (about $110 i think). The unit was bigger than we thought, especially the bathroom.
Pro's to this place:
Decent sized bathroom
Huge bed (king i think)
large fridge/freezer and dishwasher
nice views
Right in the cbd
Cons to this place:
The free movies they advertise were the same 4 movies that were played CONSTANTLY for the 48 hours we were there. So very annoying.
If you are a light sleeper, there are bells that go off outside you window until 12am (a problem we had in Hobart as well). Ear plugs solve the problem.
Remember that the hotel is on the left hand side as you come down the street (just before the corner). If you miss it, its a one way street and takes a few minutes to find your way back.
We really appreciated the staff. They had information on hand to guide us to activities, although check that activities are running before you travel, especially in winter.
The parking was average. There is a 10 minute spot right in front of the building that helps when checking in. There is a parking garage across the road that is $4 per day. Its a hassle at night tho, as you have to get a token from the hotel to get anything from your car after 6pm.
Overall, we would stay there again. It gave us space to relax and explore the city.

We stayed at the Quest Launceston for five nights in late March.
The positives :
Jacki in Reception was very efficient and helpful.
Quest is situated in the CBD, and within walking distance to shops and restaurants, etc.
Lovely office/foyer in heritage building. Apartments lovely and spacious.
Comfortable beds/pillows.
Car park is across the street, $4.00 overnight from 5.30 p.m. - 10.00 a.m. Being in the CBD, I thought that was a pretty good rate and I think it was fairly reasonable during the day as well.
The negatives :
The loudest clock in the southern hemisphere (as we were told by one local) is situated right behind the Quest. It chimes every quarter of an hour, then chimes the hour, every hour. After approximately 11.00 p.m. it chimes the hour, every hour. We were in Launceston for a sporting event, and with 12 hour days, we had hoped that when we were back at the apartment, we could relax, have tea, then get a good night's sleep. At $190.00 per night for five nights, one would expect to. In other reviews dating back to December 2006, management stated that double glazed windows would be installed, however we were also being told this in March 2008.
Other reviewers also stated that they had traffic noise, we didn't have that, however on our last night (a Saturday) a nightclub close by had blaring music till all hours, as well as noisy patrons, so that noise as well as the loudest clock in the southern hemisphere, meant we got no sleep at all !!
The Quest have sent petitions to the local council asking them to have the clock switched off overnight, or to at least lower the volume. The council obviously does not think the clock is a problem, however the clock was in the CBD well before the Quest Apartments, so perhaps the owners 'should' have done their homework and ensured their apartments were soundproofed before they opened.
Bathroom - minor issues. The shelf in the bathrooms is tiny so there is nowhere to put your toiletry bag.
There was mould all round the base of our shower cubicle.
Clean but noisy

This is a newly refurbished building. The rooms are very clean and modern and the beds are very firm and comfortable. The only thing they forgot was to refit the windows. These are the original slide up and down windows which do not seal well. Thus the road noise is heard all night, unless you are at the back of the building. I would expect a better nights sleep for the price you pay.
Fantastic!

There were 9 of us - 2 families with teenage kids - travellling around Tasmania and Melbourne for more than 2 weeks. We stayed at various serviced apartments and hotels and we must say that Quest Launceston is our favourite of the lot. The rooms are very spacious and clean; the kitchenette well stocked. Our teenage kids loved the fact that the rooms are on 2 separate levels. It gives them space and privacy .
Parking is not really a big problem. The multi storey carpark across the road is good and we were also able to park over -night just outside the hotel on some nights.
