Booked this 'hotel' through a travel agent on the hopes it was safe and 3 star quality. It is basically a backpackers pretending to be a hotel, very noisy, dirty, basic, with the only breakfast option being a limited shop over the road that didnt even sell breakfast foods! Fire alarms went off two out of the three nights I was there, no safe, and limited reception opening hours which is no good when checking out early! Wish I had read these comments before booking! Definately would NOT recommend staying!

Booked up for 4 nights through Wotif. The description with Wotif sounded great. Wotif's description was false and deceptive. The Plaza Hotel does not exist, just a grubby backpacker/ third rate grubby motel. Complained to Wotif, but they were rude and arrogant. Have complained to the official Australian Tourist Board, but so far they do not believe me. Maybe they should take a look at the other comments on here. Dorothy I think you should look into this, all these people were very upset with this dump. Whatever happened to the Australian " Fair Go" ??? Avoid at all costs, it ruined my stay in Alice Springs. Would not recommend Wotif either. I found that you can get cheaper prices if you bargain with the hotel direct.

I should've definitely read these posts before booking the A.S. Plaza. They are all totally right. It is a hostel pretending to be a hotel. Think 'jail cell' and you're about there. Don't let them kid you about the cafe across the road opening early so you can grab a coffee before your departure. You're better off walking into town and grabbing your coffee there. If you do need to depart early, make sure to tell the front desk the night before. The last think you need when trying to escape (erm, leave) is to be delayed because there's no one to give your key to.

Le plaza hotel ne vaut certainement les 3 étoiles qu'on lui attribue! Malgré les qq points positifs, c'est dans l'ensemble très moyen. Je commence par les bons côtés : se reposer à l'ombre des 2 grands eucalyptus au bord de la piscine, son emplacement proche du centre ville et des points intéressants de la ville comme le flying doctors centre ou le reptile centre, le BBQ pour faire sa cuisine (dans la partie melanka car côté hotel ils sont inutilisables). Malheureusement, il y a surtout des mauvais côtés : on arrive après l'accueil à une grille fermée par un code, et ensuite on entre dans un couloir peut engageant de brique peinte en blanc.... une prison??! Les chambres ne sont vraiment pas très jolies (toujours en brique peinte), et les lits pas confortables. Mais surtout, très très très bruyantes... à tel point qu'on a l'impression de dormir dans le couloir voire dans la chambre du voisin. Tout ça à cause d'une grille d'aération dans chaque porte, qui en occupe toute la partie basse... un vrai plaisir :-((. Le manque d'entretien des parties communes est vraiment terrible : tables et chaises sales, BBQ inutilisables côté hotel, coin cuisine et vaisselle "dégueu" côté melanka, et pour finir les vitres de l'hôtel semblent n'avoir jamais rencontré de nettoyants... L'accueil n'est pas vraiment chaleureux, mais la boutique d'opales/artisanat est sympa à regarder. Vous pouvez boire un verre ou manger un snack juste à côté de l'accueil, les prix sont raisonnables. Si je devais retourner à Alice, ce n'est certainement pas au Plaza Hotel que je séjournerais !

Truly terrible hotel, stay further out as the walk will do you more good. Avoid at all costs.
