My husband, son and I checked into the Dominican Tower of the hotel on July 16th. After having read the reviews on here I thought it was a good choice. When I booked my room a few months ago, the one thing I requested was a room on a higher floor. When we arrived, the check in process was very smooth, but I found out I was on the second floor. I was not happy about that and asked for a higher floor. The manager or someone in charge checked and told me there was nothing available. I had booked a king bedroom suite. I found out that the king suites are only located on the ends of the hotel and not in the middle. I asked if we could move to a double room suite and he told me he still had nothing. Very strange since the hotel was not full. With no other choice, we went on to the room. The room was sort of dingy and old looking even though it is advertised that the the building has been renovated. My son had the murphy bed and there were only sheets on the bed, no blanket. I also requested a blanket for the king bed as I do not use the comforter (who knows how often they wash those things). The blankets arrived quickly. The room to me just did not feel clean and also had somewhat of a musty smell. The bathroom was the size of a chicklet and you could barely turn around getting out of the shower. The room was cleaned each day, but I do not think it was vacuumed nor was the bathroom cleaned very well.
The rooms are all nonsmoking, but you can smoke on the balcony and it really wafts into your room if your balcony door is open. Also, the stairs by the elevators smell horrible and the bathrooms are the pool should be avoided at all times.
The pool area is nice, but very crowded. Don't believe the signs that say you cannot leave your towels on the chairs to save them, because that is not true. There were towels on the chairs by 5:30 each morning and they never left and most times you never saw a body on them. No one from the hotel removes them. Also, have your child be careful on the water slide at the pool. My son hit his head coming out of there because that thing slings you out so fast at the end you almost fly out of the little area with the water that catches you. Now I know why I never saw too many people going down it.
The hotel was sort of loud at night until around midnight and then things seemed to quiet down.
If you decide to get pizza delivery, do not order from Express Pizza. Took us 2 hours to get our order. They were rude on the phone about the delay and we did not accept the order. You will get tons of pizza delivery fliers shoved in your door each day. Also, if you go to North Myrtle do not eat at Damon's. Looked nice from the outside, but food was so so and service was awful.
I thought that the price for the Caribbean was really too good to be true and I think that was right. The Caymen Tower looks really nice and maybe it would be better. I would not stay again in the Dominican Tower of the hotel.

We stayed at the Caribbean the week after July 4th, and were overall pleased with it.
We booked a 3 bedroom unit for roughly the price of a 2 bedroom in the Cayman Tower, which is new. Bedding and furniture was nice, but still a "beach hotel" flavor if that makes sense. The beds were comfortable. As others have mentioned, "angle oceanfront" means oceanview, but it was a decent view. The bathrooms are just standard, no frills. The kitchen had all the appliances, but the dishwasher was already showing wear.
Checkin was quick, however the loading/unloading area is small and it's very easy to block others or get blocked in there. The parking garage is across the street, and parking is a little tight.
After checking in, we noticed the security latch was broken. It took 3 calls to get an answer, but then it was fixed within the hour. Housekeeping was wonderful - they came between about 10 am and 2 pm, and even did our dishes a couple of times.
One thing I absolutely hated was that 5 minutes after we walked in the door, we got a phone call for a "travel survey" which was really a sales call for their condos. I politely said no thanks, but was called 10 minutes later again! Not cool.
The beach was a little narrow and crowded that time of year, but easily swimmable, some good shells early in the morning, and the water was nice.
The indoor water pool area had a pool, splash area, 2 hot tubs and lazy river. We also had problems with the kids swimming backward in the lazy river. The hot tubs were great. The water in all, however, was over chlorinated and cloudy, but not enough so to keep us out. One outdoor pool had a waterslide, which was a big hit with the kids, a hot tub, and a splash area. The other outdoor pool had a lazy river and hot tub - this one had beautiful, clear, cool water. All of the pool areas were pretty crowded, but we usually managed to find one chair. The snack bar outside is just ok. Towels ran out by midday, so we started bringing our own.
Checkout was smooth and easy.
I'm sure there are nicer accomodations and less crowded beaches for more $$, but if you can get a decent deal here I would recommend it for the price. It was very family oriented, clean, problems were minor. If you're looking for true luxury or romance, however, I would stay with the Hilton/Marriott.

I stayed at one of the three-bedroom units at the Chelsea House condominiums of the Caribbean Beach Resort during the first week of July. I stayed with my own family, including a 7, 5 and 2 year-old, my parents, and my in-laws.
Overall, our experience was a good one. The unit, while spacious, did have dated decor, and there were some minor annoyances, including burned out light bulbs, a slider doorhandle that broke off, and a seriously underpowered microwave. That said, it was still functional, and suited our needs. There is no shortage of balcony space, which allowed us to enjoy the nighttime breezes coming off the ocean. Our unit was positioned on the Ocean Boulevard side of the building, so we actually got a view of the ocean across the street.
Parking is conveniently located in front of the building, and access to Broadway at the Beach is super easy, just follow the side street (29th Ave.) and it's just four blocks away.
We stayed on the third floor, which required a decent hike up some wooden stairs. The stairs, while sturdy, have a small tread depth, so my parents and in-laws did have some difficulty climbing them. No elevators. So, if you're considering staying here, and you have people in your party that are averse to stair-climbing or lugging bags up three stories, you might want to request a first floor room.
There was a small kitchen in the unit which worked out well for breakfast and lunch. We would have a nice breakfast, go across the street to the beach or to the pools and then come back for lunch.
There is a pool in the courtyard area surrounded by the units. The pool is relatively small, but was good for a quick swim. Our experience was that it did get a bit loud at night when the pool was in use, but nothing truly obnoxious, just people enjoying their vacation. During our stay, the noise never went on past 11 at night, so it was very reasonable. This isn't a library, after all...
We also had access to the pools across the street at the main resort. The kids loved these! My daughter spent the better part of a day just doing laps around the lazy river. With both indoor and outdoor pools available, there is always a contingency if it's raining out, although, thankfully, the weather was very cooperative during our stay. Beware of the indoor kiddie pool. Lots of cute things to keep the little ones entertained, but wow, if the water were any colder, there would be chunks of ice floating on it! All the other pools were much more temperate.
Crossing the street to access the pools and beach wasn't that bad of an experience. It's a short walk, and there are sufficient gaps in traffic so that you're not trying to cross the street playing out a real-life version of Frogger.
Now, since our unit was on the southeast corner of the building, we had a view of the ocean and of the neighboring motel complex, so you got to see a lot sitting on top of the balcony, including activity at the beach, a wedding at the small park between the two hotels across the street, a parasailing boat break down, and someone getting tasered at the motel next door. After seeing the ensuing drama, my mother-in-law said that we are definitely coming back next year.
If you're not into domestic squabbles being played out right in front of you, I wouldn't be too concerned, as just two of the units could see the action. Ours, and the one below. The lowest unit is very well screened from the adjoining property by a fence and landscaping.
I would definitely recommend a stay at the Chelsea House to others who are travelling with extended family and are looking for a clean, functional base from which to take advantage of the many amenities available, as well as the other things Myrtle Beach has to offer.

My fiance and I stayed at The Caribbean Resort during the July 4th week. The lady, Joyce, who booked our reservation was very helpful and polite. Our checkin was done quickly and effieciently by Jodie. We were impressed with our accomidations and the service we experienced during our stay. My fiance and I brought our children and her mother. Our room was spacious and very clean when we checked in. During our stay, the housekeeping service we received daily was excellent. The housekeepers did a great job cleaning our room daily. The two housekeepers, Marsha and Jessie, worked with our schedule and around four children running around. We were also very surprised that the housekeeper supervisor came by daily and made we had housekeeping service and that the room was cleaned to our expectations. Bill, the supervisor, always took time to talk to us and ask how everything was. He even took time to talk with our children to see if they were having a good trip. Everyone was polite when taking with us. The Caribbean also has indoor and outdoor pools, lazy rivers, and hot tubs which we all enjoyed. Our children really enjoyed the waterpark at the hotel. We would certainly recommend the Caribbean to our family and friends.

but with no follow through this hotel was a horrible experience.
First our hotel room was not ready when we arrived, but the guy behind us got rushed into a hotel room. When we FINALLY were put into a room it was disgusting. Thier was no soap or toiletries, wet towels in the bathroom and a beer bottle on a shelf. The tub was covered in SOAP SCUM. We called the front desk to ask them to (re)clean the room and left. When we returned 5 hrs later nothing was done. So again we called. I was told nothing could be done, but they would send someone to clean the room. 10pm at night when you are traveling with 2 kids under the age of 4...it is not time to have a room cleaned. But send someone they did. The also offered to change our room.
The second room only had 1 bed and the 3rd room was acceptable but only just so. So we repacked all our bags and headed out in the POURING RAIN with 2 toddlers so that we could feel we were sleeping in a clean(er) room.
The next morning I had to beg the day manager to extend our checkout from 11 to 12 since the children went to bed 3 hrs past bedtime. Which they did...but the extraa hr barely made up for the entire day of inconvenience!
On top of that don't believe their advertising. THe hotel does not offer wifi or a continental breakfast(Both advertised on their wbesite) I live less then 2 hrs from Myrlte Beach and I will NOT be revisiting this hotel!
