I have stayed here numerous times (dozens) since it is our corporate hotel in town and I am forced to stay here. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly and I am glad to report that most things are good. Rooms are roomy, clean and comfortable. I would like to see an upgrade in the televisions (kinda small) but the rooms are always comfortable and relatively quiet. The beds are a bit soft but not too bad. I would like to see new bedding in the foreseeable future. This property is only about 5 years old and there have been no real upgrades but you wouldn't really know it by looking at it. I do enjoy the Northwoods theme including the stuffed animals for sale on the beds when you check into your room. There is no restaurant but they do serve an O.K. continental breakfast.
There is a bar area and the service there has always been very good. They always have conference and banquet rooms and they always seem to be very busy. I know the manager and the assistant manager and I can tell you, you won't find more conscientious folks that if problems are brought to their attention, they will get the proper attention. The exercise area is in the basement and it is always kept clean and maintained. Not much down there but a universal weight machine and a few treadmills and cycles but it works. The pool area is nice and the pool is even an indoor/outdoor combo pool which is unique and interesting.
All in all, I am not sure you will really find any better in town and the rates are pretty reasonable as well. While there is not a restaurant on property you are within easy walking distance to Red Lobster, Whiskey Creek, Applebees, etc.

While this may be the best of the abysmal choice for St. Joseph; the Ramada across the street is a close second and I will stay there next time.
Stoney Creek Inn is everything that other reviewers say. You have to get past the hookey Northwoods fake bears, trees and buffaloes, etc. What the real problem is that Corporate Management (yes there are more of these in Illinois,Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri) has decided that they do not like the way CNN is reporting the war in Iraq. Hence, you cannot receive CNN or their subsidiary HLN in any of their facilities.
Wasn't access to all sides of all news what we fought a couple of earlier wars about?
I suggest a boycott of all Stoney Creek Inns....I will not ever use one again until this policy of media supression is reversed.

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel and it won't be our last. I only wish someone at the front desk had told us two visits ago that they have a 'frequent guest' program because we'd be close to our 'free' 13th night by now. Luckily I overheard another guest mention it when she checked in so I signed us up.
Breakfast is decent for continental. We actually had biscuits and gravy one of the mornings! It would be nice to have a bit more variety once in awhile. Donuts and pancakes every morning get old.
Front desk at check in/out is efficient and friendly most of the time. One clerk got me some hot chocolate packets one night so we could have cocoa in our room.
Housekeeping does a wonderful job and works around you if you need to hang out in the room past 9am. They don't knock on the door and bother you.
I was disappointed that the hot tub was out of order. And the 'heated' pool doesn't stay very warm when half the pool sticks out into the snow. Towels need to be replenished before they run out.
Overall, our stay was nice. The location of the hotel can't be beat. It's walking distance to a lovely coffee shop and if you are brave enough to cross a busy street, the mall is within a block or so.

We arrived without a reservation but they were able to accomodate us. I was a little apprehensive about the "rustic" decor and was afraid the rooms would be authentically rustic but we could not have been happier! The room was huge, VERY CLEAN, the bed comfortable, towels abundant, the water pressure was awesome and I do believe they had soft water! Every employee we encountered was very friendly and gracious.
The bar was great - we had an enjoyable evening there. There was a wedding rehearsal group that provided us some entertainment. Barkeeps were great!
We had our 2nd floor window open on the other side of the courtyard from the pool so it was a little noisy for a while but by the time we went to bed the pool area had quieted.
If only every hotel I stayed at could be this confortable!
