I stayed here for 2 nights with my kids (15, 14 & 8) and it was mediocre. The staff was great but the room was not up to par. We were upgraded to a junior suite and when I walked into the room all I could say was UGH. We were tired and basically wanted somewhere to lay our heads and give us access to NYC without being in the city. I love White Plains and have visited twice before but I won't stay at this hotel again.
I am a frequent traveler and hotel cleanliness and appearance are a priority. During this trip I was looking for affordable but you get what you pay for. The room's air conditioner unit had a broken knob so the air was blowing very low. I called the front desk and complained and they sent someone from maintenance up and he said "All I can do is put a shield over the vents so it will blow out" WTH! After two hours it finally cooled off.
The sheets were dingy and the tub/shower was substandard. I am glad that we brought our own pillows because I wouldn't have laid my head on those pillows. I bought cleaning supplies jjust so I would feel comfortable knowing that the bathroom was clean.
The continental breakfast is sparse so I decided to just leave and get food when we got to the city.
I did like that the hotel is very close to the mall and restaurants. We walked to the Cheesecake Factory our first night there. It is also close to the North White Plains Metro-North RR so I drove and parked and rode the train right into Grand Central.

We have just returned from what was to be a 4 day event for our family. We were attending the New York State Empire Games and booked our reservations at this hotel.
When we arrived to the hotel, the Front Desk Manager, Mike informed us that we would have to pay an additional $40 per night, we have 2 children, they charge $20 per night per child. After protesting the additional charges, he finally agreed to waive them for us. It was unfair what he was doing, and our reservations were for 4 in the room as stated on the confirmation letter 2/2. At check-in we were informed that breakfast was in the lobby of the annex and served from 7am to 9:30 am.
We went to the room to find the carpets quite dusty and the bath floor a bit dirty. We used towels to cover the floor.
The following morning went for breakfast at 9:10 to find it was closed, went to the front desk who stated it should be open to 9:30. Ann, at the desk called the kitchen to find out the kitchen closed the breakfast at 9:00 am, and did this because they were told it only runs till 9:00 am. Nothing was done to even offer us a cup of coffee or muffin, nothing. I asked to speak to the manager and Mike stepped up again. He told us, "to-bad the breakfast is closed." I asked where I can bring my family for breakfast, and he answered by pointing to the door and stating "there are a thousand places out there." I ask to speak with the General Manager and after leaving 4 messages during the course of 5 hours his assistant called back. Lisa apologized for Mike and offered a fruit basket and stated we would not have to pay the additional $40 per night. We were part of the Empire Games and I assume at this point she wants no bad press to make it to them. We were assured the room would be cleaned too.
We returned to the room at 10:00 PM to find that the bathroom floor was damp mopped, mold still there as well as in the bath shower area. The carpets were still not vacuumed, dirt was so thick under the desk the blue carpet was brown. Our coffee cups from the day before were still on the table, still dirty. The maids only made the beds. We decided at this point our vacation was to be cut short, and we were leaving. The next morning I went to use the elevator to check out, there was urine from a dog in the elevator. I informed the front desk at 7:00 AM. I was told there is no persons in housekeeping, it would have to wait. He will leave a note for them. This confirmed it, we are out of there. We left the hotel at 9:30 and the urine was still on the elevator floor, now dried and tracked god knows where.
Leaving the room, and making sure we have all our belongings, we double-checked the draws and under the beds. Well, to our surprise, we found containers under the beds filled with poison to kill mice. Looking further we found an additional one under the heater. How can this be SAFE? I left a message for Lisa Pergamo, the assistant to the General Manager and Director of Corporate Sales,. I have left 3 messages and she has yet to call back regarding our concerns, I also left messages for Frank Thomas, Director of House Keeping, he also has not returned a call. I can only guess that since I have checked out, that I am only another guest who will never return to that hotel, oh sorry it is a home for the elderly that they also use as a hotel. That may be a large reason that the conditions are so awful. Please look for another hotel while in the White Plains area, I strongly do not suggest this one.
Don't stay here.

The reviews of this hotel are RIGHT ON - pay attention. My first clue should have been when I was handed a key with a post-it note attached to it with my room number (which the gentleman at the desk loudly announced in front of other customers). I'm a female that travels often for work - and this is the most discusting, unsafe feeling hotel I've encountered - ever. It took me 40 minutes to get a hair dryer that the front desk person said should have been in the room. No coffee pots - even though I'd be afraid to use them. If my stay was for more than one night I would have changed hotels in a heart beat! The room was filthy, furniture stained, bathroom ...well it's simply discusting. I feel for the folks that stay in the assisted living area because I'm sure they're living conditions are horrible. My local SPCA is cleaner than my room. Leaving the next morning, I met a whole floor of folks sitting in their wheelchairs, sitting on the floor, etc - most incoherent. I couldn't help but feel for them being stuck in such a depressing, dirty place. I even felt bad leaving them there behind me.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

This hotel is terrible. I booked it on another website that had it rated as three star hotel. I will never use that website again. The hotel might have been nice thirty years ago, but it is now out of date, dirty and not maintained. Most bizarre was that a large part of the hotel doubles as a assisted living facility for the elderly.
My room had stains on the couch that would have shocked the CSI crew if they had come in with a black light. There was a mouse trap exposed under the bed. There was no remote control for the television. The bathroom had not been cleaned as it was obvious that someone had used the toilet before my arrival. This was so bad that it was almost funny
