We spent a week in this resort and celebrated my twins' graduation. We stayed in a two bedroom unit that overlooked the courtyard and swimming pool. Our room had no view of the ocean. The rooms were nicely decorated with TV's in every room and Canadian satellite which was almost like not having TV. I am used to DirectTV subscribing to all channels.
As I said the rooms were very spacious and nice, however, I was very disappointed with the tiki like restaurant, service and the food. Food was very expensive and portions were small. The wait staff was very professional and nice but the Managers had attitudes. One manager actually got time off for attitude behavior when we first arrived.
To get good food you had to take a bus 10 miles from the hotel. Good food was very expensive there also.
We made friends with the camera man taking photos at the resort and found out the places that the locals eat and had some wonderful meals. We ended up renting a car to go to the local restaurants and ended up having a nice time.
I would recommend this resort to "home bodies" that like to stay in one place and use all of the amenities of the resort and who are content with high prices and small portions of food. You must be an avid drinker to enjoy this resort also as it will help make the time go by quicker. We were ready to leave by Thursday of the week as we had done everything the resort had to offer several times. We actually got bored as the activities are not planned well at this resort.
I would recommend to everyone to rent a vehicle when you come and ask the locals where to eat and what to do after hours.

I`m not really sure how I feel about our stay here. I`ve given it ok because I just can`t decide.
There was no courtesy bus from the port but there were taxis available. On arrival there seemed to be a lot of people milling about in reception meaning it was very confused. We were early but were told we couldn`t check in yet but we also couldn`t use our room cards to get towels etc so we could use the beach/pool. The bell man took our luggage to store it for us until check in but I noticed the room wasn`t locked so anyone could have gotten to our luggage. Its not very central and because we`d not gotten our room keys we couldn`t use the free bus to go anywhere, we were a little stuck. As we were sat in the foyer a group of youths walked shouting through the foyer in a drunken state, I wasn`t overly impressed.
We decided to go for some food, the food itself was quite nice. The staff were a bit brash and short with us, the main problem was the flies. Although obviously I know they can`t control the flies, there is no indoor eating area for you to escape, it got so annoying we left our food.
Again there seemed to be large groups of young people drinking and being loud which was very off putting.
About 1550 we tried to check in the member of staff disappeared off then returned and were told the room wasn`t ready yet by a rude member of staff and to come back in ten minutes, I`m not quite sure this was the case. Two minutes after she`d sent me away like a naughty school child she waved me over and said we could check in - quite what was done in that 2 minutes I don`t know.
A disgruntled bell man reluctantly took our luggage to our room, we were across the road. At first I was a little disappointed we weren`t on the beach side but once we were in our room that was forgotten. NB. There was no lift so had to hump the cases up the stairs.
The room itself was huge I had a one bedroom apartment. The living area and kitchen were large and clean. The balcony was spacious and looked out over a quiet marina which made for a nice view. The bathroom was very dated which the towel rail hanging off. The bedroom was ok although very dated. The air con was very good throughout. The spare pillows didn`t have covers on and the pillows were very grubby but we requested new pillow cases and there were given immediately.
Overall the room was spacious but the decour needs updating although I think the building was relatively new. The conceirge wasn`t very helpful she looked extremely put out when we asked for a restaurant recommendation - forgive me if I`m wrong but is this not the purpose of a conceirge!!
The free bus into Port Lucaya was handy but only ran til 5pm so taxis were a must. It cost $9 to get into Port Lucaya and there was a lot of restaurants there and entertainment in the square every night. There are some delivery places so you could stay in the hotel and get things delivered.
The beach on the resort was clean and tidy with plenty of complimentary chairs although they were a little tight with the towels. There were games etc on the beach for the children. I can`t comment on the resort facilities such as spa as we didn`t use them. The pool always looked a bit grubby to me as if the sand had been dragged from the beach into the pool.
The worst part of the holiday was when we went for the timeshare presentation. We had told the lady we weren`t interested as we didn`t have the money and would just be after info for the future. She had said that it wasn`t formal and we could go just for info and some lunch. As it was due to thunder we went. It was a one on one sale which isn`t what I expected and the worst salesman ever. We explained we weren`t there to buy and he basically insulted us and said we were time wasters. We explained that we`d told the woman this and he said we were there under false pretences. He then tried to emotionally black mail us saying that he worked on 100% commision and he was a single parent and he had to feed his son etc. We thought this below the belt and took this oppurtunity to exit. We spoke to some other people who had a similar experience where their rep turned nasty when they didn`t invest. I know the hotel isn`t responsible for the Interval International reps but they are sending their patrons to see them without proper advice. It left me feeling very angry. My advice would be if you don`t have to or have no intention of buying a timeshare then don`t attend the presentation under any circumstances.
The rest of the vacation went by without incident expect another uncomfortable moment with the flies, the burger I`d picked was excellent however, the side of flies and no indoor space ruined it. Our server was very friendly though which was unusual as the staff weren`t overly friendly at all.
We didn`t have a very good experience here. It might be ok if you visit as a timeshare owner/member but I certainly won`t be going back.

We just returned from a wonderful vacation at the resort. We had been concerned about what to expect after reading some other reviews, but everything was very nice.
The location of the resort is great; it is scluded, and yet close to Port Lucaya. During the day we used the free shuttle to Port Lucaya, and at night taxi cabs were the same as any resort area (those who complained about taxi fares obviously don't take cabs!). The beach is beautiful, and Zonk the conch man makes wonderful conch salad.
The staff was very helpful and nice. I just can't understand the people who say that anyone was rude; I think that perhaps they confused an "island pace" with indifference. Hey, slowing down is part of a great vacation!
Thank you to the staff at the Island Seas - we had the vacation of a lifetime.

This was my first trip to the resort as well as Grand Bahama Island. The room itself was ok, a little worn but not at all uncomfortable. The two-bedroom unit had window a/c units that were loud but cooled the room. The hotel did not supply any amenities such as shampoo or supplies for the kitchen such as coffee, sugar, salt, pepper ect. however the resort has a convenience store on the grounds as well as a gift shop.
Overall the room was fair, I would rate it as a clean sort of Motel 6.
The pool and beach area, the reason we go to the Bahamas was nice. A warm pool with plenty of lounge chairs. The beach had chairs provided by the resort as well as water sports equipment for rent. Jet-skis, banana boat ect. The beach was clean and not many peddlers; a very relaxing experience.
The on-site restaurant, Coconuts, has a limited selection but the food quality was pretty good. The service was mind bogglingly s-l-o-w-w-w-w-w. With only four other occupied tables it took us over 45 minutes to receive our meals after they were ordered. My son was still hungry after eating his hot dog and when we ordered a second it took over 35 minutes to bring another! A hot -dog?! Finally when it took another 25 minutes for the waiter to bring our check. Service all over the island was ridiculously slow but this place set new standards for low.
Service throughout the resort and the island was indifferent and slow. Staff replied with mostly one word answers to all questions and largely you felt as if you were bothering them with any questions or everything was a favor to you. I wasn't expecting Ritz-type service but interactions with the staff and employees across the island was unpleasant at best and confrontational at worst.
The worst example was housekeeping, every am the housekeeper would bang at our room door between 9:30 and 10 am and request to clean the room. I would tell her each am that she could come back after 10:30 and each morning she would give an angry comment when her request to begin cleaning was denied. I have four small children and we are on our vacation; I have no intention of allowing housekeeping to set my schedule.
Overall it was OK, I'd go back for the right price but it wouldn't be my first choice.
One additional comment about the Island, I would recommend a rental car. While the property is nice I like to explore some of the other sights, UNEXSO's dolphin experience was nice as was Xanadu beach, taxi service is expensive, unreliable and again sometimes confrontational. Public transportation (also unreliable and shabby mini-vans of questionable maintenance quality) doesn't service the resort however the resort does provide regular transportation to the best shopping area which is in Port Lucaya.

My wife and I have travelled to the Bahamas many times and have stayed at several different properties. By all accounts, Island Seas is head and shoulders above the rest. Upon arriving we were treated like family. Any needs or requests we had we greeted with a smile and we never wanted for anything. While we were walking along the road, we actually had folks from the hotel stop and make sure everything was OK. We typically take care of our own housekeeping, but the staff here wanted to do something the be helpful. In other words, they truly wanted to help out, we were not just another number on their checklist. There were plenty of activities onsite as well as a shuttle to take you to Port Lucaya.
THe only complaint was that the hot tub was a little too hot for my taste, however when I asked a pool attendant about it, they corrected it and by evening it was perfect.
Would I stay here again, you bet!
