not handicapped friendly
Guest name: riverloverforever, New Hampshire
I paid $10 extra to have a handicapped accessible room, as I was travelling with my 93 year old mother, but the bathroom was definitely not handicapped friendly. The one grab bar by the toilet was not well positioned. The walk in shower could be entered with a wheelchair, but there were no grab bars and no seat and no hand help shower attachment, making the shower impossible for me to use with my mother. When I took a shower, the water drained directly onto the bathroom floor, making it extremely dangerous to walk on . . .
When I explained all this to the manager, he claimed the room had met the necessary codes (although he couldn't tell me the name of the agency that had certified it as handicapped accessible) and refused to even refund the extra $10 surcharge.
Disappointing for Best Western!

Stayed in 42 Best Westerns in 2007 and this one does not meet the usual standards that BW offers. Rooms very very small, not very clean (carpet, floor) , The lobby is beautiful so quite a let down when you enter rooms. Staff very polite and helpful.
Now going to Brockville on April 4,5/08 but have picked another chain. Too bad because in all of other BW everything was more than expected.
Okay, but pricey for simple motel room

I booked this motel through the Best Western reservation service months before our one night visit to Brockville, Ontario. I confirmed my reservation just days before our arrival. Though pricey for a simple motel room at $100CAN, I was very disappointed to find upon arrival that they wanted to charge an additional $20 for our two boys in our 2 bed room. I spoke to the manager at length because this was never mentioned when reserving or confirming the room, and he was initially only willing to cancel our reservations without penalty. Later, he compromised at $10 for both boys, which made me a little less disappointed. The room was a little worn, but clean enough, though the strong smell of disinfectant or insect repellent permeated our luggage. Minimal breakfast selections, but available in a large, comfortable dining area. We enjoyed Brockport, happily arriving during the annual ribfest at the waterfront park. Next time, would probably try to get something nicer for the price.

As a family of 4 with 2 young kids, we found the Best Western White house by accident after 3 other places were full. The price was fair for the area and we enjoyed the outdoor pool. The room was clean and spacious with a micro-wave and small refrigerator. We were trailering a 20 foot boat so we needed room for parking which was available. We were within a 5 minute drive for restaurants, marinas, shopping, etc. We will stay again when we come back to continue our tour of the St-Lawrence.

I had the unfortunate opportunity to stay at the "Best Western" White House Inn 1843 Highway 2 E, just east of Brockville September 17th and 18th, 2004. On the first night our toilet plugged and we notified the hotel. We were gone from 7:30 am until 8:30 pm. When we returned, the backed up toilet was not repaired or cleaned. The only house keeping that appeared to have been done was the garbages emptied, new towels and the bedspreads pulled straight. The beds were not made underneath the bedspreads! The beverage containers, dirt in the bath tub etc remained.
When we called repeatedly to the front desk and went in person regarding the smelly backed - up toilet, we were told they do not fix toilets. Upon our insistance they threw a toilet plunger at us and told us to fix it ourselves!
We have notified the head office for Best Western of this incident and we will hear from them during business hours this week.
This accomodation does not come close to the Best Western standard. Do not stay here.
