'80s Nostalgia

We just returned from a two night weekend break at Pikes Hotel, Ibiza. The hotel wasn't our first choice as the one we had wanted was fully booked, so we approached this with some trepidation as the photos of the rooms on the hotel's website didn't appeal. We were greeted very warmly upon our arrival and service throughout our stay was very good. It prides itself on its warm, friendly atmosphere and this was highly evident during our time there. We got lots of help with making reservations for the restaurants we wanted to go to, not to mention the Filipino barman who worked his butt off around the pool all afternoon and evening.
BUT, this hotel is stuck in a MAJOR timewarp. It's as if the '80s never went away. This is great if you're into a bit of nostalgia, but it really seemed as if they hadn't changed the mattresses for twenty years, nor given the rooms any kind of significant facelift since that time. Cheap plastic bathroom fittings, flowery tiles, pastel pink sanitaryware and cheap-looking bamboo furniture are not what I expect to see for a room I paid more than 350 euros a night for.
In short, for what we paid, it definitely wasn't worth the money, but Pike's has its charm and it's a great place to relive the '80s. Close your eyes, think of Wham's Club Tropicana and a stay at Pikes is perfect!
Dated but great crowd of people

I stayed at Pikes in August for 10 days.
Bad points:
The place does not look like it has been decorated since they filmed the 'Club tropicana' video for Wham.
Food was not fantastic.
Rooms were'unique and individual' but defiantely could do with modernizing. Old 14inch TV from the 80's and didgy bathroom suites etc.
Plus points:The people that come here were from all different backgrounds, so we made some great friends.
Tony Pike and family were very friendly and did there best to sort out any problems we had.
The hotel itself is quite out of the way (great if you dont want to be clubbing EVERY single night). I would recommend this hotel BUT you can stay at other hotels for alot less money that are modern and centrally located HOWEVER I would still recomend this hotel as I met a great group of people and had a nice holiday.
not worth it

i decided to stay at pikes because of its rich history on the island of ibiza, and while i agree that for some it is the ideal ibiza getaway, for the common tourist such as myself it totally isn't worth the trouble or expense. and it IS expensive. perhaps not by the standards of those who usually stay there, but for me it was by far the priciest hotel in my 3 week trip around spain. the grounds themselves are absolutely lovely, but the rooms have definitely seem better days and the bathrooms could really really do with an update. the decor was dated and the furnishings smelled musty and old, to the point where i had to wonder about how clean things were. the pool and bar area was really nice, the food was pretty good but the drinks were mediocre at best, and inconsistent in their quality, and ALL was overpriced. the staff was courteous if not overly friendly, but the clientele were for the most part pretentious and rude, many of them return customers, which in normal circumstances would be a good sign, but at pikes there is no effort made to welcome newcomers, instead they look at you as though you have 3 heads and ignore you as best they can. additionally the hotel is at least 20 minutes and a 20 Euro cab ride away from anything, and during busy times they can't even manage to call a cab to come all the way out to where they are. the best part of my stay was that some of the laundry i turned in upon my arrival was inadvertently given to another guest who then checked out with it in their possession. the hotel's seeming inability to deal wtih that situation in a way that made me feel at all as though they even cared that they had essentially lost my belongings left a really bad taste in my mouth. even just a sincere apology from someone in charge would have been nice, rather then the kind but hopelessly baffled speechlessness of the poor girl at the reception desk. i will definitely opt for the cold efficiency of the bigger resorts on my next visit to the island...the 'exclusivity' of pikes just isn't all it's cracked up to be.
A great Holiday!

Just returned from a four day stay at Pikes. An unique place full of character fun and ambience whilst also providing for a very relaxing stay. Professional helpful and friendly staff in all departments and the legendary Tony P recounting interesting anecdotes of life at Pikes over the years. Will definitely return – reading other reviews I am sure better value ‘rooms’ can be had elsewhere on the island – but the deal with Pikes is the experience the atmosphere the fun of the place and a delightful property.

We stayed at Pikes as part of our honeymoon in September. The hotel is in a traditional Spanish style so expect lots of terracota & tiles! We stayed in a Junior Suite which was nice but quite basic. It was decorated nicely but I can see some people might see it as a bit old fashioned. The pool area is great, nice & clean & they provide towels. The bar food is good too as are the cocktails - can recommend the peach belini! We ate once in the restuarant which was very nice & romantic as we were the only ones there. The service was great, not intrusive but on hand to top my wine glass. The food was lovely too. All in all I enjoyed my stay, not sure if I would stay again though. Some of the guests were a little pretentious and I think it's a little over priced. But I would definitely visit the restaurant again.
