We are Starwood members and booked a 5 night stay with an additional 2 nights at the end of our vacation and found the hotel to be top-notch with a great staff, fantastic rooms and ideal location. The Concierge desk couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. In addition to helping with activities and dinner reservations, they deserve our highest accolades for all their hard work dealing with the airline when all our luggage was lost (a huge problem that put quite a damper on the first week of our vacation). Despite the missing luggage setback, it was always so nice to return to our lovely room at the end of the day. The rooms were beyond comfortable with top quality sheets and bedding, lovely marble baths with all the amenities and plenty of room and closet space (granted we were in a suite). The entire staff was friendly and i have nothing bad to say except one room service situation when they forgot our dinner order so we had to wait over an hour for food. Other than that, we would definitely return again when in Paris.

I stayed here last summer (I'm new to Trip Advisor and reviewing back as far as I can remember). It was on Starwood points for two nights...
I was given a very nice room, slightly dated decor, but it fit well with the building and the neighborhood. The bathroom was simply amazing, marble everywhere, huge and the Hermes bath products were a nice, elegant touch. The room was of adequate size, especially for Europe and I enjoyed the balcony, albeit a very tiny balcony.
The hotel staff, when I saw them was mostly impartial, certainly not rude, but not warm and inviting either.
As for being one of the world's foremost hotels, I don't know...I wasn't there long enough to say either way, but it was definitely adequate, nice, comfortable, clean and convenient.
Would I have paid the EUR$400 a night to stay there, probably not, but it was worth blowing a bunch of Starwood points.

Our party of five stayed here this spring (2007) after a lovely preceding two weeks in Italy. All the other Starwood properties we stayed at were lovely. This one simply was not. In reading others' reviews, perhaps if you paid with SW points, you might be happier with it. We paid cash money - and a substantial amount.
The pluses were the location, large windows, the buffet breakfast (excellent) and the helpful concierge. The negatives were: outdated, dingy, small rooms, street noise below the open windows, and stingy housekeeping staff. The designer toiletries were lovely but they did not want to bring additional ones after the second day when we ran out. ARGH. Would I return? Never. Best thing was the location - easy to get to where we were going and we always felt safe walking in this neighborhood at night, even late which was often the case.

This hotel was awful. Perhaps the rooms vary, but ours (although allegedly a "deluxe room") was tiny. The main room was 12'x10', although the bathroom was large; in the main room there was little room to navigate around the queen sized bed. We did have a balcony, but it had no outdoor furniture and we had to move a chair to open the balcony door because the room was so small. The decor was depressing, the bedspread a polyester toile, and the pillows old and synthetic -- hardly luxury. We were there on our honeymoon and when I requested a room with a king sized bed, the front desk person curtly told me we were in a deluxe room and there was nothing she would do. We found the staff unresponsive -- for example, it took 3 days and four phone calls to the front desk to have a problem with our phone corrected. I would never stay there again -- I wish I had taked pictures to show how grim it was.

My wife and I stayed at this Starwood Hotel for five nights while traveling to Paris to attend a wedding. The rooms are large and clean. The service was good (I wouldn't say over the top like the Four Seasons located next door). Starwood was very accomodating in switching us from the Westin located about 1.5 miles away (We switched to be closer to the wedding party). We would definitely stay here again.
