This is a really nice, cheap, clean and welcoming hotel. We were staying VERY out of season in February, so be warned that there was hardly anywhere open around the hotel so we were basically forced to have lunch and dinner there unless we had wanted to go into the town of Gandia about 4 km away (which we didn't, much, as we were there attending to some legal business connected to family property). However, the room was very pleasant, clean, well appointed and with beautiful sea views. There is nothing really exciting about this hotel but the staff are welcoming, the food is good with a great selection of fruits and salads at the buffet, and we really had nothing to complain of. This is very much a Spanish tourist resort with none of the usual "Brits abroad" feel to it - VERY welcome in our case but don't go if you are looking for a home from home! The clientele were largely elderly nice Spaniards playing bingo and cards. The bar is nice as well! The staff do speak a certain amount of English, in case that is a concern.

We stayed at the Hotel Bayren I in May 2007 for 1 night (Saturday). I booked with Hotelplus & paid 50€. Not sure how it happened but I got the BEST room in the hotel. Top floor with a wrap around balcony, sea views from all angles. Breakfast was great, full english, continental, fruit, various teas. The staff we´re very friendly & helpful even though it was busy due to a wedding party.

This hotel is directly on the seafront of Playa de Gandia, a large resort about 70 km from Valenica. The hotel is modern and clean. The staff are pleasant and efficient. We only had breakfast, no other meals at the hotel. The breakfast had a choice of cold and hot food and was typical of any Spanish hotel. The room had a good seaview and was quite spacious. The bathroom was a good size and had obviously had money spent on it. Furnishing and flooring in the room itself were not very high quality and were showing signs of wear and tear, especially the laminate flooring which was peeling up in several spots. Overall, the hotel was very middle of the road. We have stayed in much better and worse than this. British visitors should be aware that this is a VERY Spanish resort and that outside the hotel a few words of Spanish are essential. Travellers should not think English is spoken everywhere like in other resorts. If you can't speak some Spanish you won't understand the menus in restaurants. We have just come back and at this time of year (April) the majority of the facilities in the resort are closed. Evening entertainment seems to be based around restaurants, cafes and hotel bars. There are no bars of the type found in other parts of the costas. Be aware that the resort runs to Spanish lifestyle times. Spanish people seem to eat between about 1.00 & 3.00p.m. It is virtually impossible to find anywhere to eat between about 3.00 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. (when the restaurants open for the evening meal). You should not expect that you can call into a place to eat at any time you choose during the day.
The weather was absolutely appalling for the whole of the week and the holiday became a very miserable experience. Had the weather been good, I might have taken a different view but believe me, an out of season Spanish holiday resort with continual rain is not somewhere I would ever want to be again!!
