We have just returned from our stay at the Olimpiyat hotel 4 nights in total, a party of eight adults, we found the hotel to be in the perfect location for all the main sights of Istanbul, clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, on the minus side the rooms are rather small but ok for a short stay. We were let down on arrival at the airport, where they were to meet us on arrival and transfer us free to the hotel, no show, no phone call from them to explain why, we booked the hotel in February leaving our contact no in case of problems, after three calls from us they told us to get a taxi, on arrival at the hotel they did offer free return transfer back to the airport on return. Also at the time of booking their website offered a package for 3 nights stay or more, including fruit and wine in room on arrival, 1 free dinner at the olive restaurant, and a free tour, they even gave me a ref. number for this. On arrival, they denied the offer existed, then the manager told us we must pay 100 euros per room per night to get this offer, very confusing website, 8 of us, plus two other couples we met, were also confused by this. We feel unfairly treated, the manager could at least have offered a complimentary meal, or a bottle of wine but he wasn't interested. So if you want to stay at this hotel, go ahead, but do not expect any free offers and do not be surprised if your taxi is not at the airport to meet you !

Stayed for six nights end of April. The best about this hotel is the location - very close to most major sites like the Aya Sofya, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Sultanahmet area, Emin?nu, also tram stop Gulhane very close.
The room is pretty small but enough for two persons. Good cleaning and very nice and helpful front desk staff.
Breakfast is ok but not very varied - typical Turkish breakfast with feta cheese, black olives, hard-boiled eggs, different sorts of white bread (some sweet), jam, nutella, some susage, regular cheese, tomatoes, some kind of lentil soup, cucumber, tea/coffea, orange juice that tasted like off Fanta.
When checking in we first got a room with no window (or window facing a wall with no daylight), but there was no problem to change to another room on the following day.
There was construction work going on on the same street, so ask for a quiet room facing the other direction if you want to sleep in.
Do visit the Dolmabache Palace, which was just gorgeous! Go a little bit further and you'll end up in Ortak?y, which is also well worth a visit!

First trip to Turkey & we stayed at the Olimpiyat Hotel for 7 nights.
The hotel is nicely located between the golden horn & SultanAhmet. 10 mins walk to major sites like blue mosque, St Sofia, Tokapi Palace, spice bazaar, Sikeci station. Grand bazaar about 20 mins away.
A lot of lovely eating places around, too many! One has to try their meat balls and grilled fishes, mouth-watering.
Most hotel staff are courteus and friendly. Room tiny but newly renovated. I am happy to give 4 out of 5 for Olimpiyat Hotel.

we reserved this hotel through alitalia web site, together with our flight ticket, we spent here 4 days at new years'eve.
The location is absolutely great, very close to the tram stop, in a walking distance to the blue mosque, the main attractions, the train station and galata bridge. Besides, the location in a side street, maybe not easy to find the first time, guarantee a good silence during the night (traffic in istanbul is chaotic). In the early morning I could hear only the seagulls :-).. a nice way to wake up.
In our reservation we were supposed to get a triple room-although we were only 2 people, it should be a special offer- but finally we got a double small room. The room was clean, and we were going to spend most of our time walking in the city , so we didn't ask for a change.
The bathroom was recently renewed, with a gorgeus shower and the hair drier. You could see international channels from the TV.
The receptionists and the waiters were friendly, their english was not perfect but they were helpful (they called us taxi many times, and they also called us a restaurant to ask informations.. and so on).
Breakfast included jam, honey, butter, (very good) bread, some cakes, juices, good cheese, olives...In my opinion it was a good and complete breakfast.
There was an elevator.
The only problem was the heating, really too hot. (better hot than cold in any case).
If we came back to istanbul (gorgeus lovely city) we would choose the same hotel. My vote is 7,5/10.
