This phenomenally well-priced hotel is located a half a block off of Plaza Mayor, on the pedestrian-only street that takes you to the legendary Roman Aqueduct, several blocks away. The price we paid, less than 60 Euros during a peak time (the hand-puppet festival, which of course we skipped), couldn't be beat. We were able to park on the opposite side of Plaza Mayor in a public lot, less than a five-minute walk from the hotel.
As the name suggests, the hotel is decorated in the Mudejar style of the unconverted Moors who remained in Spain after the Reconquista. (You'll recognize if you've seen the Alcanzar palace in Seville or the bullfighting ring in Madrid.) The rooms were spacious (at least by European standards) and immaculate, and the large windows bathed the room in wonderful sunlight. Most (but not all) of the staff spoke English, but that wasn't a problem for us.
There is one fancier place to stay in Segovia (just across the street from La Casa Mudejar), and except for that place's doubling of its normal rate due to the hand-puppet festival we would have stayed there. I'm glad we didn't, though, because we got to have a wonderful stay at La Casa Mudejar instead. La Casa Mudejar will be our first choice, not our second, next time we go to Segovia.

Loved the hotel, loved Segovia

We loved this hotel. We had a very warm greeting when we arrived although we had violated the rule of not driving up to the front door. Do yourself a favor and if you are driving to the hotel, drive into the square and park your car in front of the Isabel Hotel. They will let you stay there long enough to unload your bags and walk the few feet to the Mudejar to check in. Regardless, we received a very warm greeting which presaged the rest of our stay. Everyone was very friendly, the room (a junior suite looking out over the roofs of the Jewish Quarter as seen on the web page) was nice, clean and comfortable. We had a relatively small area for the main sleeping area which held the queen/king bed, desk, tv, nightstands etc and then a somewhat narrow area that held a daybed with trundle and another tv. This would be great for a family travelling with kids or for two people who had different sleeping schedules so that you could watch tv at different times. The hotel is located right off the main square and you can walk everywhere you need to go in Segovia. There is a nice little bar in the basement where you can get tapas and a glass of wine. I really liked this hotel. It was warm and welcoming and I would highly suggest it for a visit to Segovia.

This was a nice hotel in a great location just off the main plaza. This was our first experience with voice-controlled access which lowered a low pillar in the street to let us into the plaza - it all worked and allowed us to park long enough to unload our bags. At 60 Euros a night we felt we got very good value.
We loved shopping in Segovia. It was the only city historical center we saw in Spain with anything but junky tourist shops; there were a couple of really nice gift shops with all handmade items on the street out to the Alcazar, and there were very nice shops on the main street down to the Aquaduct.
We were very un-impressed with the Meson de Candido restaurant. It is in a lovely old building with a great view of the aqueduct but the meat sauces were way too heavy.
