A very friendly small hotel with good sized rooms. we had a double room on the first floor, and it was very clean and well presented. 24 hour reception, and a good cold buffet breakfast (7.30-10.30M-F. 8-11S-S - allows for the odd lazy mornings). Pro's - good value, as above, close to 3 metro stations ( within 5 mins walk) and local buses. can have good views of St Pau hospital park (listed building - very impressive). lift to most floors, underground carpark if required. WiFi internet free in the rooms with a guest computer in reception with internet access. Always helpfull staff. Con's - As many city hotels, - it's on a busy road, and traffic noise can be a problem, - there is good double glazing in all rooms, but background rumble often audible. (near to hospital - ambulance sirens can be 24 hours). Is on a hill, - 2 metro stops dont involve much hill climbing, but walking from sights to the hotel is uphill. not a problem for able bodied, but may be difficult for others. Minibar in room is more usefull as fridge for own use, - no tea/coffee facilities in room, - coffee machine in reception 24hr. Dont let the list of Con's put you off, - they are minor snags that the hotel has no control over, and didnt affect our enjoyment - we simply put them here to give a fair review. We will be returning to this hotel within the year, - that must tell you something. Tony

I just returned from a three night stay at the Hotel Aristol - I think it is definitely a great deal and would highly recommend it. Hotel Aristol is a three star hotel near the Guinardo (yellow line) metro station. I would compare it to a Holiday Inn in terms of the types and quality of rooms. The prices are low, it is clean and safe and ALL the rooms are non-smoking! The Hotel is in a great location- five-minute walk from a cute plaza area with numerous nice restaurants and bars, 2 blocks from the metro, and an easy 15 minute walk from Sagrada Familia. Not in the center of things, but conveniently located. We got a great price on the hotel from hotels[--].

Sono appena tornato da un soggiorno di tre notti all'Hotel Aristol - credo che sia un ottimo affare e lo raccomando altamente. L'Hotel Aristol è un tre stelle vicino alla fermata della metro di Guinardo (linea gialla). Lo paragonerei a un Holiday Inn in termini di qualità e stile delle camere. I prezzi sono bassi, è pulito e sicuro e tutte le camere sono non fumatori. L'albergo è in un'ottima posizione - a cinque minuti a piedi da una zona con molti ristoranti e bar, a due isolati dalla metro, e a 15 minuti a piedi dalla Sagrada Familia. Non è in centro ma la posizione è comoda. Abbiamo trovato un ottimo prezzo su internet.

I have just spent 5 days in Barcelona (June 2006) and stayed in Hotel Aristol. I thought it was brilliant value for money. It was extremely clean, the room had everything you could need, the staff were helpful and the hotel was lovely and quiet at night because it wasn't in the city centre. I didn't find this a problem because the metro station was only 5 minutes walk from the hotel and the metro system was so quick and efficient, not to mention cheap! the only drawback of the hotel was that it was at the top of a steep hill, which meant a bit of a climb after getting off the metro. It didn't bother me but older travellers might find it a bit much. But if that doesn't put you off, I would recommend this hotel. I will definitely be staying there when I go back to Bracelona!

It was pretty far away from the centre of Barcelona, although very close to the metro. It was clean and friendly with comfortable rooms, although being right on the corner of a roundabout was a bit noisy. Overall, decent value for money - but not great.
