Modern hotel, lousy bathroom

The room was facing the entrance but still was very quiet. It was quite large and very modern. The bed was hard. There were extra pillows and blankets. We laid the blankets on the bed to make it softer. The bathroom looked great, however the stopper for the tub was a black rubber stopper and I had to climb into the tub to fit it into the drain, then out again to fill the tub and then back into the tub to bathe. The tub is quite high and very dangerous to get into as there are no grab rails. This was our only complaint. The breakfast room was very bright, lots of choices, and good support from the staff for cleaning up dirty dishes. It was a nice walk to the old town and passed a large department-grocery store on the way so we could stop for water and snacks.

We chose this place only because everything else of quality anywhere near the Mezquita was full. It is a 20/25 minute ugly walk (car lots, vacant lots, etc.) from the Mezquita. The taxi ride there sometimes took almost as long due to traffic. Significantly further beyond that to/from the train and bus stations. There is NOTHING in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, so the name “Center” is a blatant misnomer. Our experience in the hotel itself was similar to that of other reviewers – clean, comfortable modern room, indifferent service by the staff, lousy service in the breakfast dining room. Dramatically over-priced at over $250 per night all in….especially compared to the (incomparable) quality of the Alhambra Palace, where we stayed next.
Of course, the Mezquita and the gardens of the Alcazar themselves are fantastic and they countered the bad taste left by the hotel. Also strongly recommended is the El Caballo Rojo – exquisite restaurant located across the street from the Mezquita….where you might expect a tourist trap but instead find impeccable service and exquisite food. Reservations advised (but we lucked out and got the last vacant table after wandering in).

We stayed at this hotel for 2 days in early Jan. This hotel is within a 5 min walk from the Renfe/Bus station and 5 mins from the downtown restaurants and shops. We had a room overlooking the main street/downtown area. We were on the 3rd floor and could not hear the traffic at all. The room decorations were modern and sleek. The bedroom was spacious. The bathroom had sliding wooden doors. The bathtub was hard to get into and out of because it was so high (I almost slipped and fell.). The service was friendly and they gave us a map to get to the Mezquita at the front desk. The Mezquita and Alcazar is located within a 15-20 min walk through cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. We also used this hotel as a base to visit Granada. This was in a great central and conveient location and I would highly recommend this hotel to other travellers.

We stayed three nights in December 2007and paid 350 Euros via a travel agent. The hotel is reasonably well situated but a longish 15 minute walk to the Mezquita. The foyer stank of smoke but the receptionists were efficient, although not particularly welcoming.
The hotel plays ghastly piped music in the corridors, which can be heard in the bedrooms if you dont close the inner door. The plastic keys often do not work, necessitating a trip back to Reception.
The lighting in the spacious, comfortable rooms is very dim, the beds are hard and the pillows thin. That said, we had a very quiet room at the back of the hotel which given the hotels posiion on a majo road was a big bonus.
The bar staff were indifferent and spoke little English. We had to pay 28 euros for two brandies! Incredible that in Spain the barman appeared not to have heard of Fundador. The bar stocked only a small selection of brandies, all extremely expensive.
For a four star hotel, I would rate it no higher than an average five out of ten - but Internet access is free and that was a huge bonus as far as we were concerned.

El Hotel esta muy bien situado, no en el centro historico pero si en el centro moderno, como ambos estan cerca no es un problema. Las habitaciones son muy grandes y tienen todas las comodidades... peeero... el personal no es eficiente y es antipatico. Cuando llegamos ya estaba una pareja de amigos esperando, y como llegamos mas tarde de las 6 ellos se encargaron de avisar, al llegar le dijimos que ya habiamos avisado y la chica de recepcion nos contestó, se habrán ustedes explicado mal, tuviera razón o no (que no la tenía) no son formas de tratar a alguien que te esta hablando con una sonrisa en la boca. Despues subimos a la piscina que tienen en la terraza superior y que es completamente inutil pues en invierno no se puede estar y en verano.... menos. Aun asi pedimos en recepcion toallas para darnos un baño y nos contestaron con un sencillo "no hay". resumiendo hay mejores hoteles en Córdoba, algunos por un poco más, y otros por mucho menos.
