My son, who is in college, and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in May. We were in Bologna to go to the Gallery Ferrari in Maranello. The Hotel Regina was wonderful. Right on the main street with a nice little "park" out front. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful, even looking up the train schedule for us on their computer and printing out a timetable. The breakfast was very nice with sweet treats, cereal, yogurt, orange juice, coffee, tea. There is internet in the lobby which you can use to hook up your own computer if you want. It was unreliable, so we did go to an internet location not far from the hotel. The room was very nice, big enough, with a TV, double pane windows (quiet, we were in the back of the hotel), small bathroom, very clean. Beds were comfortable. There is a lift. I would definately recommend this hotel.

Great Location. Clean rooms. My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Regina for 2 nights for a medical conference in Bologna. The location is ideal for visitors to Bologna. The hotel is located 10 mins from the Piazza del Netuno, Piazza Maggiore and the famous Bologna towers. The train station is a short 15 min walk from the hotel.
The hotel staff were overall helpful. The rooms were small by American standards but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shower was small. Water pressure and temperature were good.
Complimentary breakfast was served from 7am to 10am. Good selection of teas, coffee and juices. Croissants, danishes, and breakfast rolls along with cold cereals was available.
The location was ideal. There is a taxi stand in front of the hotel entrance. Everything is within walking distance from the hotel. All of the shopping areas, major sites, restaurants are all close by. Adjacent to the hotel is a small eatery serving pizza and sandwiches. There is a open air market next to the hotel where you can find all sorts of bargains.
My wife and I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would definitely recommend this hotel to friends visiting Bologna.

"We stayed at this comfortable hotel at the end of August for four nights. It is in a great location for absolutely everything. The outside sitting area bar/food area is a nice touch too. Our room was top floor corner unit on the main street. The street can be noisy and the market area beside the hotel can also be noisy. This would be my only complaint. I am a light sleeper too. I would not hesitate to return to this hotel."

We only stayed in this hotel for one night.
Our first look in this hotel was not very pleasant. It could though be attributed to it being our first night in Italy, so read on. The hotel is ideally located, on the centre of the city's life, and only a few blocks from the city's main attractions (the city centre). What was unusual about this hotel, it that it featured electronic key cards, a very scarce feature in Italian hotels. Also, they served warm barista-made cappuccino/latte/espresso at breakfast, instead of the vending-machine variety served almost everywhere else.
Otherwise, the hotel was in dire need of a renovation - it is old and it looks it age. It's clean enough, though - for its age.
Our room was small, and the window opened to no view. The bathroom was small but decent - the shower curtain was effective, and the pluming worked ok. The soundproofing was effective enough - we heard no noise coming from other rooms. Although we were initially given a double and a single bed, instead of the three beds we had requested (a mistake of the website's system), they made a switch for us promptly. There was no internet connection available on the hotel, and although we located a couple of wi-fi hotspots, none would work.
The hotel also featured a cafe/gelateria at a very premium shopping street location, which we did not have the time to enjoy.
It seems that only a few of the hotel's staff speak English.
