This hotel was suggested by a close friend of mine because it is 'clean and cheap'. I was looking for a nice hotel for me and my mother and I decided to trust my friend. The point is that we loved it!
The hotel is situated in a lovely location with front views to a green garden is literally 5 minutes walking distance to the Bayswater undergraound and 10 minutes walking distance to Hyde Park. This means that there are plenty of shops, supermarkets, pharmacies around and it looks like a 'safe area'.
However, the reason why we were so satisfied is not the location but the friendly people who own the hotel. We felt welcomed from the first moment! Our room was on the second floor (there is no elevator, so if you're on 4th floor you might feel somehow frustrated) and was very clean. The matresses were in good condition, but the toilet has no window. Nevertheless, we were provided with an air freshener :) The room was not very big but somehow sufficient for a three-night stay. We also asked for a 'converter' since my mum brought her hair straightener from Greece and they were happy to provide us with one immediately. The breakfast room was all right, but the breakfast was also a pleasant surprise. I have stayed in many badget hotels and usually the coffee is unbearable and the bread inedible. This hotel actually has very good coffee and you can ask for many refills! It is not self-service; which means that someone is always there to serve you while you enjoy your coffee and plan your day ahead. The people working there were so friendly and smiling and this is what made us feel so welcome.
There are some drawbacks, though. You have to pay for parking if you have a car (fortunately, we didn't) Also, this hotel needs some upgrading; the curtains, the beds, the breakfast room, everything looked as a scenery from a 70s movie. Nevertheless, for ?60 per room per night (if you go to their website and book online, they have special offers) you can't ask for more! Be careful, though, when you book a room; if you're looking for an en-suite room, you have to state it before hand- so pay closer attention when you make the booking!
I liked the hotel so much that 2nd August I'm going with a couple of friends to spend two nights and I can't wait to show them my discovery!

The rooms are friendly and a bit larger than in another hotel where I stayed in before in the same area. The blue running carpet in my room and elsewhere in the hotel is clean which is quite exceptional for hotels in London in this price category. Towels are changed every day if needed. On the downside of the room: there are 2 small chestboards, large enough to store all necessary belongings but damaged and partly broken, however still usable. (NB: It still reflects the feeling that London hotel business has more market power and demand far outweights hospitality). The walls of the room and the stairways are freshly painted in white and are clean and friendly, which is also above London average for hotels of this price range in this area. However, the handle bars in the whole of the stair case are unpainted and look neglected. There is only one shower for all single rooms in the hotel which could be insufficient in case of frequent use, however I have to stress that the shower is clean, well looked after and spacy which shouldn't be taken for granted in the London hotel business market. However, forget using the shower after sunset unless you don't mind that the neighbourhood in front of you is looking through the light courtain on your naked body. There is a second toilet downstairs however it is quite small. There are only two toilets for 18 rooms (some of the rooms already have a toilet inside I assume?). Unfortunately, the small toilet downstairs does not have a sink to wash hands.
The positive sides have to be stressed that you find soap in your room and in the shower, which shouldn't be taken for granted in the London hotel market. On the downside, there is no towel for the toilet in the shower. The area of the hotel is great, very posh and not far away from lively Queensway. Also positive: A seat lift from the entrance hall down to the breakfeast room which should be for handicapped persons. However, people with physical limitation do not have any facilities to get up the stairs into their rooms. Nevertheless, it is already very much appreciated that a little effort is done to ease the life of people with physical handicaps.
Compared to a hotel in the same area where I stayed in before, breakfeast is quite acceptable. Tables are clean (again, do not take it for granted in London) and although basic, it is enough to fill your stomach. There is even the choice to help yourself with some apples or a banana.
About the staff: like usual in London, they are nearly all Eastern Europeans. However, in contast to some other hotels of this price category in the same London area, they do not look chronically tired and do not give me the impression that they are exploited.
As a very experienced traveller I can conclude that of course, London hotels will always underperform in international comparison (wellcome to the Olympics 2012), even compared to expensive places like Paris and New York. But in all, for London, it's very clean, the value for money relationship is correct and I can see an effort to sadisfy clients and its own personel which outweights my previous experience in a hotel closeby and this should be respected in the rating of this establishment.

Superb Hotel - a lovely clean soft bed (I have never had better), large room (for London), long mirror and TV working. Clean bathroom with bath & shower above bath. Tea & Coffee in the room - fantastic ! Very friendly staff who helped us locate the shops we wanted. Breakfast was just right - plenty of choice and lots of freshly cooked food. lots of coffee and toast. I can only say we had a lovely stay here, and will be back !

We booked a room here because the low price, and relatively good comments and we were completely satisfied. Clean and sufficient room, friendly staff, quite neiborhood, close to underground. We arrived early but our room was already available. They gave us the code to use their wireless internet with our laptop. We would definately stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a decent place to stay on a low budget.

Myself and a friend booked an overnight stay at this hotel as she had a hospital appointment at 7.30 am the following day. Because of the distance we had to travel it was easier to go to London the day before and stay. We found this hotel to be excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful. We were able to park the car at the rear of the hotel which was a bonus as the hospital did not have public parking facilities. Our room was large, very clean and pleasant, the bathroom also was clean, nice white towels and toiletries if you wanted them. The breakfast was good and delivered to your room. I had to leave my friend at the hospital for the whole day and was able to leave my car parked at the hotel until I needed it, this was very much appreciated. They had no objections to me sitting in the reception area after checking out until it was time to collect my friend. I had read some of the reviews on this site before going and must admit was not quite sure what we would find on arrival. How wrong could we have been!! We would have no hesitation in going back to this hotel if need be. There was one young lady who came from Italy who worked at the reception desk and she was so very helpful to me whilst waiting to go and collect my friend.
Incidentally both my friend and I are pensioners. I have stayed in hotels in America quite a few times but rate this hotel highly as it had a very personal touch and we were not just a room number.
