This hotel ruined my trip to Prague. I chose it for the location, but wish I had spent a little bit extra to find a nicer hotel.
I arranged for a car to pick me up at the airport - it never arrived so I had to take a cab to the hotel at midnight. The staff proceeded to charge me for the transfer anyway! The staff member I spoke with that night was rude and the manager I spoke to the next day was even more rude. When I explained that they were practicing poor customer service by charging me for a service I never received, they insisted that they were in the right. I have never had this happen at any other hotel!
The attitude of the staff is disgraceful. The hotel itself is run down. You spend a lot of time anticipating your vacation - don't ruin it by staying here!

My wife and I stayed at the Meteor Plaza for a week over Easter 2007. After our previous trip to Marrakech it was a pleasure to stay here. The room was cleaned properly every day, the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom had a properly functioning power shower (something I find to be rarer than perhaps it should) the staff were helpful and the food was excellent. Breakfast was the usually buffet type but there was a large selection and I ended up having something different pretty much every day. I would also recommend trying the vaulted restaurant in the cellar for something a little more upmarket. This is a well run, clean hotel and, if I return to Prague, I will happily stay here again. For the location and price I have no complaints at all.

Wonderful stay for 4 nights

Just got back from a visit to Prague where I stayed 4 nights in this hotel. It was great, and if I travel there again, I'd stay in the same hotel. The room was very clean and quiet. The hotel is located within easy walking distance to places I wanted to see, and as an older single woman, I felt totally safe in the area, including at night.. Service was good, and the staff competent and friendly. I found this place by using Trip Advisor, and I was not disappointed in any way. Highly recommend.
Very good location!

My husband and I have just come back from a long weekend in Prague. We stayed 3 nights at the Best Western Meteor Plaza. The room was a bit on the small side, but it was good enough for us as we were only in the room to get some sleep! Moreover, as we were at the back of the hotel, it was very quiet, which was ideal.
The room was also very clean and when we rang to get another couple of towels, they got delivered to our room within 2 minutes.
The only downside was breakfast. If you get to breakfast after 9am, you do struggle to get a table and there aren't too many pastries, cakes, etc left. Water is also added to the orange juice, which makes it impossible to drink...But beside that, the rest is fine.
The location of the hotel is definitely its strongest point. You are minutes away from everything and the hotel is surrounded by some really nice restaurants.
I would stay there again.

I stayed here the first week of May. Reception is just next to the dismal bar and one afternoon while sitting there alone with my laptop, I found myself in need to tend to my airplane head cold. I asked the desk clerk for a tissue and was given one - along with the admonishment that if I needed more, I would have to leave the hotel to purchase a box. I consider such behavior to be the legacy of the Soviet occupation, and no, I did not expect that she should have wiped my nose for me.
Not all of the staff are so unhelpful. I tipped the maid CZK 300 on the second day and ended up with heaps of towels instead of just one. I should have asked for a second pillow, too.
I have larger closets than the room I was assigned. It wasn't so bad just for me as I was traveling alone, but it was the smallest hotel room I had ever seen. I believe hostels may offer more spacious accommodation. I could not connect to the wireless with my laptop except in the bar and reception area.
There is only one sheet on the bed and one pillow. In place of the topsheet is a covered duvet. A window that doesn't open to the wall of the adjacent building would have been nice as Prague weather is spotty in May and there was very little light in this miniscule cell.
The location is great. There are two concert halls within easy walking distance. There is little nightlife in the general area, but there is good shopping at the nearby Palladium.
Except for one or two days when I awoke in time for breakfast, which is not bad, I stayed well away from the restaurant in favor of a charming little Cuban restaurant, La Bodeguita Del Medio. The restaurant with the Pilsner Urquell umbrellas in the same building wiht the concet hall just down the block offers a nice lunch. On the opposite end of te same building is a more formal restaurant offering prix fixe meals and an a' la carte menu. I took the full course prix fixe offerig and found it wonderful. The sommlier offered up an outrageously luxurious Frenc Bordeaux which paired perfectly with the meal. Expect to spend about $200 per person with a bottle of wine.
The hotel offers a reasonable price. I even attacked the minibar a few times and my bill at check out was a pleasant surprise. If you want to visit Prague and only want a place to sleep, this hotel might be considered to be acceptable. Just be prepared to pay the additional price for the visit to your physician for the Prozac your going to needafter staying in this depressing place.
My advice? Spend a few more Crowns and find a nicer hotel. I hate Prozac.
Side Note - ALWAYS ask the driver for a price before getting into a taxi. A trip to a restaurant cost CZK 200 when I asked first. On the return (damn those mojitios!), I forgot to ask and CZK 500 was demanded. I threw a crumpled CZK 200 note to the driver, told him to screw off, and went on my way. I suppose he knew he was attempting thievery as he didn't prostest much as I walked away.
