Why stay anywhere else in Munich? The Hotel Rivoli is great. It is about a one-minute walk from the Harras metro stop, which is about 3-5 minutes from the main HBF train station. You can be anywhere you want in short order, utilizing that metro. Best part… a Eurail pass works on the metro. The hotel Rivoli deserves its 3-star rating and fits squarely in that category. The look is modern and clean. We were put in a nicely furnished and clean room that reeked of smoke, but the shower was great as was the bed. A word of warning- the pornographic television stations are free and included, and it is hard to decipher what the German acronyms are for the channels, so be prepared for a shocking scene or two when flipping channels. Breakfast was not that great looking and was 12 euros extra per person. Internet was 10 euros but was available in the room if you have a laptop. Overall, if I go back to Munich, I am going to forgo the search and just book Hotel Rivoli again.

Got a great deal on Expedia a little less than 100USD and stayed here one night in May. If I had paid full fare I would have been very disappointed THE BAD : * Smoking room - Asked for a non-smoking room and was given a room on a smoking floor and which was previously a SMOKING room. So when we arrived the room still smelled of smoke. We had to leave the window open all night - but since we were on the a very noisy street it was very loud. * Safe - The safe was not bolded down and was even missing the lock. So it was basically a metal box with a hole where the lock once was. * Missing comforter - We had two twin beds put together (never an issue with me), but it only had one bed spread. So half the bed was fully made the other half was missing the comforter. * No luggage room - If you arrive early, you have to leave your luggage next to the desk. It seems pretty safe since the staff is working the desk at all times. It just makes the teeny tiny lobby area look cluttered and does not guarantee the safety of your stuff. The GOOD: * Close to metro - The trams are super efficient in Germany. It was great having the station so close * The staff was helpful with maps and directions. I did not complain about the 'bad' items because we were so tired from the overnight train, and I paid very little. So it goes to show you get what you pay for. I honestly think that hotels keep a set of rooms aside for those who pay little on site like expedia.

For a 3-star hotel in a major European city this was not a disappointment. Lobby while small was clean & stylish, with access to hotel bar and restaurant. Staff were friendly and spoke English comfortably. Best of all though was the room - huge, with suite furniture, mini-kitchenette and a bathroom with deeeep bathtub and towel warmers. Breakfast was included in the very reasonable rate, and was fresh & plentiful with both hot and cold options. The underground station was just half a block away, and an internet cafe across the street - perfect as we hadn't brought laptops. Overall, good value and highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed here over the New Years holiday and we had a great time! The staff is friendly and speak great English. They have a nice casual bar area. I have no complaints about this hotel which is super close to Harras underground station. Try the Thai restaurant two doors up at their sister hotel the Clarion Ambiance Rivoli, it is really good. Ho alloggiato 3 notti all'Hotel Rivoli e lo consiglio a tutti. L'albergo e' in una posizione ottima per girare Monaco, proprio accanto alla metro. La stanza era molto pulita, il personale cordiale e disponibile. Le colazioni poi era molto abbondanti.....tanto da poter poi tranquillamente saltare il pranzo.
