The Bristol Palace was a great lodging for our 4-night visit to Genoa. It has the character that only an older property can offer. Along with that age comes a few squeaks in the floorboards, but it's all part of the charm. The location was good, on a main shopping street only a few blocks from the old town. Our room was large, floored with that stone composite material you sometimes find in Italian hotels of a certain age. The air conditioning did not work, or I wasn't smart enough to master it, but this wasn't much of an issue in March. The property has been well cared for and is in generally great shape. The breakfast room, with its frescoed ceiling, was a treat and the food itself was good with a reasonable selection (including champagne!). The desk staff were knowledgeable and helpful. The only problem we had was internet access, which probably did not work because of an incompatibility with my company's VPN software. All else was fine.

My fiance & I booked into the hotel for three nights via booking.com. Straight away we found the receptionist very unfriendly as we checked in. A smile goes a long way. Our room was much smaller than it looked on the internet. It was old fashioned, which we were expecting, but had no character.
The website said that there was paid tv channels for movies but this wasnt the case.
The air conditioning isnt switched on until the middle of May, we were informed, with no apology.
We stayed one night there & asked to check out the next day as we wanted to change hotels due to poor service & small room. The receptionist did not ask us if we had a good stay or for our reason for leaving early, which would have been nice.
The only thing this hotel had going for it was the beautiful stair case, as you look up from the reception area. I suppose the receptionists were counting on us admiring the view to make up for their poor service.

Nice hotel with great atmosphere and helpful staff. We stayed here for a couple of nights in September and we were very pleased with room cleanless and breakfast. The Italian atmosphere of this hotel is unique and the official staff was excellent. We ask for recomentations and arrangements for transfers and we found them very helpful and friendly. The staircase deserves a photo. Also good value for a city hotel right in the hart. After all we are in Europe. We 'll choose Bristol Palace again in our next visit in Genoa.
Thanks for a wonderful stay!
