This hotel has a great location, a few minutes walk to the Cathedral sub way and on the doorstep to all of the great shops.
The hotel itself is a bit dated in decor (a bit 80's) but hey that s reflected in the price. It was totally clean and the staff friendly and helpful. I would stay here again as it is excellent value for the location in Milan.

Hotel Galileo in Milan is a supposed 4 star property. The location is convenient to the Duomo and shopping, and their breakfast was ok. Those are the only nice things I can say. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. When I asked to move to a non-smoking room, I was told there is no such thing in their hotel. The decor was dated, with a broken down sofa, threadbare carpeting and a color that most reminded me of elementary school green. This was not a 4 star room, even though I paid a 4 star rate.

We spent one night in the Galileo Milan, and that was enough.
The hotel front and lobby have the appearance of a hotel available by the hour.
The first room we were shown was old, cramped, and dirty, so we refused to accept it. They showed us another second floor room, which was larger but obviously had not been touched since de Vinci spent the night there. We said we did not want that room either. They insisted that there were no other rooms available and we would have to take it.
We started talking with one of the bell boys, a Spaniard, in Spanish, and he said that the rooms on the top floor had been remodeled. He checked, and there was one available. We moved up there and the room was OK, but certainly not worth $300.
The breakfast next morning was fine.
The main attraction to this hotel is the location, near the Duomo, Galleria, and shopping. Otherwise we can not reommend it.

Chose this for its location which is unbeatable for Duomo, shopping. First room we were shown was not at all what had been described on the phone (we are couple plus 2 small children, and they'd suggested we'd have separate sleeping areas either side of the bathroom) but after questioning we got shown some more including what had been intended and ended up paying the same price in a newly done mini-suite on top floor with balcony, fold-out bed for one child and travel cot for the other. What it did show was that there are new rooms and rather tired older ones. We got to be picky as they clearly got it wrong first time, we were there over a holiday weekend and this is mostly a business hotel. We had the bar and restaurant to ourselves in the evenings which was just fine too. Friendly, made a real effort to help out and reasonable especially for the room we ended up in. Good option for weekenders, I'd suggest, if you don't mind the business feel and 70s architecture.
