I have read a lot of reviews concerning this hotel in trip advisor, most of them are really bad, and this review will only confirm it.
I spend some Hollidays at that 'place' this summer, with my family. The first impression (as we arrived in the night) was a spacious room. No bath, but a large opened shower, quite clean (except some moisture on the wall, with the corresponding smell...)
The breakfast was the first big disappointment we got. The food was quite basic and very low quality. I had the impression of a low cost restaurant. The coffee that you get is from automatic machines, same kind of what I got in my job everyday for free, or in a fast-food restaurant. What a disappointment in a country where the 'cortado' and 'cafe solo' are so delicious. I recognise some horrible pictures from other reviews concerning the food, and I really recognise them as been the real things you get there.
The evening food was at the same level. Low cost products to maximise profits is the only summarising I will do here. We could write lines and lines about the food at that place, and my only conclusion will be that I visited lots of four star resorts in Spain (some of them in Mallorca), and this was the saddest experience I had in my 'hotel' life.
The hotel amenities are quite correct. The main swimming pool is large, a little bit crowded in high season (like everywhere), but at the level you expect it to be. The inside swimming pool is average, could be bigger (in regards to the size of the hotel) and cleaner. The activities are also on an average level if you compare them to the other resorts, not better, not worst.
Near the hotel, the beach is very beautiful, not very large as it is between rocks, but we like it very much (kids too...). The only small mistake i would mention is the cleaning of the beach sand.
The staff at the hotel was like the food, terrible... A majority of people were unfriendly. In most of any hotel, when you arrive at the restaurant, someone is welcoming you, gives you a location for eating, see if everything is ok, etc. This was not the case at all. The Reception was also bad and not friendly at all. My wife have learn Spanish, and she took dome discussion with member staff that were more friendly, and we can confirm that the 'ambiance' inside the staff was very bad, and that didn't improve at all the amiability to the customers. Avoid also discussing with the director of the hotel, which is for me impolite, and not at the level requested for that kind of position.
If you are still in the process of choosing a hotel, take really your time to compare different offers. This hotel was really more expensive than other where we stayed and had very good experiences. I will not mention them as it is not a place for making advertising, but really , this hotel is not a four star level, except for the price. If it's too late for you, there is still a very nice grill restaurant in front of the hotel, where you can find back the Spanish smile! Rent a car, move inside this marvellous island, or go the various beach around the location, have fun, relax at the swimming pool, and it will help to forgot a little bit those too bad points. If get advised this hotel by the travel agent as I had to book late. If was one of the last available hotel in that part of Spain, and I think I will never accept so easily an hotel which has difficulties to book all his room in summer period.
In conclusion, this hotel is a bit as a ‘low-cost’ model: trying to extract the most money from you, with the less basic products. This is unfortunately not the only place where it happens. Try to be critical in your choice. I have spent nearly 4000€ for four people there (flight included of course), and for this money, you expect to relax and have a nice holiday; but unfortunately, if has been only a very expensive nightmare.

We booked this holiday as a group of five women and had the most amazing time.
Firstly it is very quiet, up market and peaceful but we soon changed that.
It is set in a variety of complexes of the main hotel each area has a pool and dining facility. The rooms are exceptionally clean and catered for our needs which was basically to sleep. However on arrival we were disappointed in the fact that the rooms have no view only the bedroom wall and high rise window. Our rooms had air conditioning and hair dryer and a large bathroom. This is more than adequate as we did not book a holiday to spend time in our room.
The hotel overall was really lovely, all aspects of it being exceptionally clean. The pool area is pretty with flowers and seating and sun loungers around the main pool area. Going mid September meant that the sun beds did not have to be attacked with military precision to locate one.
Staff were wonderful and really really friendly. I think they were all slightly bemused to see a group of 40 plus women on holiday having a real good laugh and enjoying every minute. The restaurant manager went out of his way to make us feel welcome and personally greeted us at meal times. Perhaps this was more to keep an eye on us and our consumption of his fine red and white wine.
We had an amazing time and although the resort was quieter than i expected we still found the week went really quickly.
The beach is amazing and really clean and tidy and safely monitored. Porto Cristo cost us £5 in a taxi but unfortunately it shuts early in the evening due to the winter season, so the hotel had more to offer in the evening than anything local.
Would we return. Probably yes it was one of the best holidays i have had and i have travelled extensively.

After arriving late at night, around 11:30, my dad and I were fairly tired after a days travelling and waiting.
Excited to finally get to our room and lie down, we were told we didnt have a room (although we had booked and been given the okay some 2 weeks beforehand!!!!)!!!!!!
"Nope sorry, we are over-booked, theres nothing we can do about and we will send you in a taxi, 5 minute drive, to another hotel for 2 nights. Thank you goodbye."
There was barely time to argue as the rude hotel staff marched away (without apologising!), and carted us into a taxi for our "5 minute" drive.
After about 20 minutes ride we arrived at an extremely cramped (but with polite staff), hotel. My dad and I were told we were sharing a room, which lets face it, is just awkward, and extremely closterphobic!
After two sleepless nights, we finally got back to Cala Mandia and apparently werent the only ones who had been cut a raw part of a deal! A crowd of grumpy people seemed to be waiting for rooms as well.
The room (once we got into it) was nice, and although our only compensation for their mistakes was a crummy rental car for 2 days, the pools were cramped and the service only mediocre, the incredible beach made up for any problems occured!!!
The food wasnt bad and entertainment average.
I would not go back again and would strongely advise if you go to stay in another hotel. (and if you do, definatley make sure your not in Block D!! its so far away you need a car to get to the pools and beach) But i would very strongely reccomend the beach!!!

Thank God for the beautiful beach or this trip would have been a disaster area.
Was traveling with my teen-age daughter. Upon arriving late at night at Mandia we were told that they were overbooked and our room would not be available the first two nights! After arguing in a state of shock, we were put in a taxi and shuttled about 15 minutes away in the dark of night to a three-star hotel that had cell blocks for rooms. This is where me and my daughter stayed. One crap room! Two nights!
The staff at Mandia was virtually unapologetic and basically stumbling, bumbling fools. Turns out they screwed up reservations for many people and when we returned two days later there was mayhem in the lobby. Finally we were given our room, which was very nice and as advertised. They told us they would upgrade us to all-inclusive which was fine except that WE ALREADY paid for all-inclusive! So they gave us a rent a car for two days. Argh.
There are three pools which were crammed. We spent our days on the beach which was spectacular.
The food is OK and the service average at best.
The place was heavy with Germans, who seldom smiled despite the fact that they had successfully conquered this resort. I guess there will be no smiling until they have conquered every resort in Europe. This MIGHT account for the unhappy Spanish staff, but really, incompetence rules the day here.
It's a beautiful island, but I strongly suggest you try your luck elsewhere. I have never been treated like this -- and a four-star hotel? Yeah, right...
