This hotel is block-booked by tour operators and groups of middle-class pilgrims who (like us!) take the 'soft option' and walk the Camino with luggage sent ahead. We did not see any independent travellers staying here; there are many other more attractive options in Santiago at this price. First impressions were poor. The threadbare carpet on the steps in the lobby was a real safety hazard. The welcome, however, was warm and courteous - and in good English. Our group experienced rooms of widely varying quality. Ours, on the second floor, had been recently refurbished and was fine, apart from a layer of dust on the bedside cabinet. Others were less fortunate, with small, shabby and even damp rooms. However, the hotel has two important plus points: its excellent location just outside the old town and the buffet breakfast which was plentiful and varied. So if someone books you into here for a night or two, don't panic. But if you are handling your own accommodation, look elsewhere.

I booked 3 nights in this hotel, but only stayed one night.
When i arrived to the hotel, they didn't have a private park, so was a big problem, because there is a lot of police in the street. There was a park in front of the hotel, but you had to pay 24 hours/day, and was a bit expensive.
When i arrive to the room, it had a lot of smell of tabaco!! And i booked non smoking room, jesus!!
The hotel have have in -1 floor a "restaurant", but is awful, it seems a prison! with no light!!
When i went to sleep, it was very dificult, because of the smell of the room, and the noise in the street! So i went to recepcion to check out in the morning!
I went then to O'Grove(near Sanxenxo), to hotel abeiras, a great new hotel, with a nice price, and had a great 3 days vacations, was a lot of sun, so i went to beach, and visit oher cities.
Do not go to this hotel in compostela, is a nightmare! very old, I will never comeback!

The location is excellent, right in the old town, and the building looks impressive. There's a car park across the street (I don't know how much it is but the car park in Plaza Roja charges 13 euros a day). The room was ok, good sized, noisy if the window was open, and the bathroom was just acceptable (athough not for a 4-star hotel: the painting in the ceiling was peeling). The staircase, the reception area and the rooms look old and a bit decadent. Choose this hotel if you get a good deal (less than 90 euros) and if you really need to be right in the historic city centre.
