Very nice room, modern in decor, larger room than most hotels we stayed at in Italy, big bathroom, staff/front desk was ok, but not super friendly, very close to metro station and lots of shopping

This hotel had been given not so good reveiws. We really liked it.
We arrived at the hotel, our bags were carried in, they very efficiently sorted our paperwork out and immediately upgraded us to a kingsize suite, we only booked a superior double. They then had our bags taken up to our room.
The room itself was very chic with lovely furniture, lighting and all mod cons. a large flat screen in the lounge area and one in the bedroom. Lovely big windows very big bed. The bathroom was amazing. Extremely clean with a brilliant shower over the bath. Very impressive over all.
All together it was a really pleasant stay and I would definitely go back there again. The staff were helpful and friendly the room was 10 out of 10.

Starhotel Ritz is a very disappointing experience. Rooms are small, gloomy and depressing and any request for service or help was either ignored or denied. No irons or steamers for clothing, although you can send out for their servicing (24+ hours later). A/C is not kept on even during warm months, which keeps both the rooms and hallways very hot. The hotel lobby and common areas are depressing and corporate and the staff is a mixed bag of rude. Not recommended unless you're desperate.
No Problems at all with room 403!

If you want to shop the location of this hotel is good, but there are very few bars or restaurants in the area. It is only a 5 minute walk though to the metro station.
The rooms are fine but breakfast is very poor.
Be careful if you book directly with the hotel. I could not book online as I wanted 2 rooms, 1 for 3 nights, the other for four nights and their website just did not allow me to do this. So I rang and got a rate of 134 euros for each room, with the rate increasing to 149 for the 4th night. They promised an email but none came. 2 days later I telephoned again and cancelled the 4th night, again gave them my email and requested confirmation. None came. On the day of travel I emailed asking for urgent response, no reply.
On arrival the roomtype requested were not available, we accepted this and again were quoted 134 per room per night. On checkout they overcharged 1 room at 149 and refused to alter it!
They tried to claim I had booked 5 nights, then that the rate had changed on 1 room during my stay. The staff at the desk said they could not change their system or overide it! After much arguing they removed the day room rate. An unpleasant experience that resulted from their own inefficiency. So if you stay there do not book by phone and make sure you have the rate in writing .
