This hotel was great! Very beautiful lobby and interior. The rooms are rather large compared to other hotels, and the bathroom is huge. The townhouse suite is also very nice and large. Great location, was close to everything, and the hotel staff was very friendly. I've read alot about the walls being thin, that is true, but what would one expect in a old hotel? The positives more than make up for hearing people in the next room.

I loved this hotel! I brought my dog with me and they had a big bag of treats and goodies waiting for the dog in the room and also a nice welcome for me as well. Everyone was very nice, friendly and super helpful. They give you a doggy one-sheet with all the info on dog friendly dining, parks, shops, day care, vets, etc. Super awesome. Perfect location, walking distance to everything. Between downtown and the Pearl district, I loved this hotel!! They also have rooms with spa tubs that are fabulous...I loved that! They are actual life size hot tubs not the typical "spa tub." Very comfy bed and huge room, my only complaint is the lack of natural light. My room looked out into a view of other buildings and had a very, very small window. However, didn't bother me at all as I was so happy with everything else :). I travel A LOT for work and this was one of my most enjoyable stays ever....great for dogs :)

My business colleagues secured a reservation at the last minute to save me from a chain hotel in the suburbs. I was very thankful, as the room was spotless, I enjoyed the Aveda products, and above all, it was quiet and safe. This was my first stay in downtown Portland, and the location of this hotel is a great location for walking and experiencing the character of downtown.

We stayed here for Memorial Day weekend and were pretty disappointed. We had no idea that they would be under construction, and there was dust and piled up furniture everywhere. It was not a relaxing environment. The walls are like tissue paper, and we heard our next-door neighbors very clearly at 3 in the morning every night (and they weren't partying or anything wild). The staff were nice, and quite helpful when the Riedel crystal wine glasses we had brought back from the Willamette Valley wine tastings went missing (we suspect the cleaning staff didn't realize that they were ours, and thought we had borrowed them from the restaurant or something).
