Stayed here for just one night after an evening on the town.
Room was quite large with a King bed, small desk, nice side chair and table. Visually pleasing design. Large flat screen TV was new. Bedding I found to be pretty average, and a little skimpy on the pillows. Bathroom was again very nicely sized. Tub and shower were pretty average. Nice towels and complimentary toiletries.
Complimentary wine service in the evening was a nice touch.
Did not use the gym, but it was pretty small. Looked like about 6 total machines (treads, elliptical, bike). Equipment looked pretty new but it's a tight space.
Great service from the valet. Parking was $40/night w/ in-out privilege.
Front desk staff was good. First rep gave me a room on 2 next to the gym. I was concerned about noise, and they were able to move us to another room far from elevators, etc. No drama, very professional.
I would stay here again w/o hesitation; however, I find I have a preference for a more classic presentation vs. the 'hipness' of this boutique hotel. Ask yourself: do you prefer a white bathrobe, or leopard print bathrobe? Hotel Monaco is all about the animal prints.

The personal service at this hotel was simply perfect. We had a noise issue with neighbors the first night and the staff moved us the next day while we were at a meeting. The staff recognized us by name and made efforts to meet our every need! The concierge got us tickets to Jersey Boys (sold out for months). In short, everyone went the extra mile. Rooms were clean, attractive, and well-appointed. We will be back again!

We had a great weekend at the Hotel Monaco, a mother-daughter getaway. We arrived Saturday morning by train and were able to check into our room at 10:00. We requested a coffee maker and goldfish at check-in. The coffee maker arrived within minutes, and the goldfish arrived in the afternoon. The window seat was absolutely fantastic. From the 7th floor we were able to watch the city below, including the river. If at all possible, get a window seat! Theaters and shopping are all convenient - easy and enjoyable walks. The staff always welcomed us and seemed to enjoy their jobs. The room was well-appointed and comfortable. The el (elevated train) turns a corner near the hotel, and is loudly squeaky outside, but it didn't bother us in our room. Great hotel, great weekend! We'll definitely be looking at Kimpton hotels in other cities in the future.

A friend recommended the Hotel Monaco and after reading reviews on this website, we decided to book it and we were not disappointed. From the moment you are greeted at the door by a friendly staff, to the moment we left, we experienced top-notch service. The room was as advertised: spacious, comfortable, and with nice amenities. Our view was of a brick building, so I would recommend requesting a riverview room. The free wine hour from 5-6 and coffee in the morning was a big hit. The fitness room is small and doesn't have much to offer. The hotel restaraunt was pricey ($4 bagels...$8 oatmeal), although the food was good, but the service was fairly bad. I would recommend walking to Corner Bakery or some other local restaraunt. The hotel is centrally located to the Loop, the El, and the shopping/entertainment district. We will definitely stay here and at Kimpton hotels again. Where this hotel won me over was with the service; everyone was friendly and helpful.
