I really wonder why the Moorpark hotel is rated no. one ? My own experience was not a great one. I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and there was a buzzing noise which continued for over an hour early in the morning during my entire stay at the hotel. I walked around my floor and found that the entire floor had that vibration going on. My guess is, it is from the boiler room or laundary room. I am not sure if this was a brand new hotel built in early 2000 or just a renovated rundown motel. I could see the paint coming off the elevator and the carpet falling apart. The bathroom was a major disappointment since the drain at the bathtub didn't work. It had to be manuelly pulled up for the water to go down. A couple of the towels felt wet and used and not been replaced by clean ones. I was quite disappointed because I had read so many good reviews about this place. I have a feeling that many visitors got upgraded to the Club level and enjoyed better service? To be fair, the beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean and fresh. The staff was efficient but the friendliest person was the housekeeping lady I met. The hotel was easy to find since it was right off the Freeway. There was a strip mall right across where one can pick up food and groceries.

The exterior is unassuming but inside is all class. I was greeted by the front desk clerk and handed a hand written card welcoming me to the Hotel. The room was nicely furnished and very modern. The room was quiet and comfy, all you could ask for! I will stay there again, in fact I already stayed at another JDV hotel in SF last week based upon my experience at the Moorpark.

My wife and I have stayed at the Moorpark on previous occasions. They have always gone the "extra" mile to make our stay pleasant. This last stay was for 3 nights to attend the funeral services of our Daughter, Elizabeth. When the girls at the front desk heard of the purpose of our visit they went out and purchased a beautiful ceramic angel and when we returned to our room that evening, they had placed it in our room in a gift wrapped box along with a sympathy card signed by the three people on the front desk...........you won't get that kind of service at the Four Seasons or Waldorf Astoria. I highly recomend the Moorpark and any of the other "joie de vivre" hotels.........they have never disappointed us...............Bill Freeman, Monterey, CA

I stay here on business and this hotel is certainly more comfortable and stylish than your average business hotel at this price level. Very comfortable bed. I arrived late the other night and ate at the hotel and the food was good and reasonably priced. I certainly recommend it for a business trip if the other options are your standard issue chain like Holiday Inn, Hilton etc.

We have stayed at this Hotel several times now when we have come for Business in the San Jose area. We Love this hotel. The staff are very pleasant. We were called right after we checked in to see if we needed anything. The hotel is nice and quiet and we were able to sleep and the beds were very comfortable. We will definitely be staying here when we return to the area again.
