I stayed at the helios as it is in an excellent location for the beach and it is quite near the village . i was initially very impressed with the apartments as they are a good size and were a great base for me ,my husband and my son to stay in while we were looking up friends in the area. PROBLEMS Before you read on i will say that the final straw that made us check out early was when my little boy found porn under his bed from the previous guests ! 1. the room smelled quite bad and the cleaning staff ignored it. by the end of the week it was so bad it was like something rotting. 2. someone stole our shoes from outside the door but when we complained we were told it was not the hotels problem (fair enough) but when i complained again in spanish they appeared outside our apartment but no-one knew how they got there. 3. the senior management have really bad attitudes. they told me that they "employ staff that can barely read or write so how can i expect them to understand me" !! ( i spoke to several groundsmen /techs who seemed really nice and quite literate) 4. the maids came in with fresh towels 3 times in 1 week but didnt once take the old ones or change the sheets or make the beds and we had to leave our bin outside the room to be emptied as it was that full on the 4th day because they ignored it. Basically the building is fine just whats inside is not so good ! so if you are going to can pastilla and want a nice hotel in the same location try the ses fontanelles 200ft away as it is 10times better and the staff are great !!!!!!!

I took my 6 year old daughter for a holiday over the new year period. The hotel was very good and their actual new year's dinner and party was great. The hotel is in a good location, close to the local ammenities and buses into Palma. I would definately reccomend.

Stayed at the Helios Hotel feb 2008. Hotel looks lovely and was very clean. Rooms clean but could do with being updated. Reception staff were friendly and happy to help. The only down side to the hotel was the amount of spanish that were staying there. They were all over 65! This is definately not a resort for families or couiples. The food wasnt great, chips on the menu every night. The food was very much catered for the spanish, which are extremely rude people. They like to push in the que at meal times and if you are seen to be taking more than your share they call you "Greedy English[--]!" Me and my partner felt so uncomfortable as everytime we came in and out of the hotel all eyes were on us! However the area surrounding the hotel is lovely. The beach is clean and about a 30 second walk away. There wasn't much open as it was out of season. Its hard to find a good bar in the area. We came across two whilst we were stayin in C'an Pastilla. The first one was Renates which is a ten minute walk along the beach front towards Arenel. We went there for a quick drink the first night we arrived and was suprised to find it was so unwelcoming. The female owner has a worst bark than my dog and was extremely rude. The 2nd night of our holiday we found a bar called BUSBY'S which is just before Renates. I've never been to a more friendlier bar! The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The bar was open early and shut late. The bar has a large selection of drinks and the food was excellent. Me and my partner had the steak, it was cooked perfectly and arrived promptly. All prices are very reasonable. The bar had full sky including live sports and a good selection of music to suit all tastes. The atmosphere of the bar was constantly friendly throughout our stay. I can honestly say if we had not found this bar our holiday wouldn't have been half as good. We look forward to returning in April.

nice hotel. A little dilapidated but with a pleasant atmosphere, nice garden and indor pool. Meals were buffet style and although not anything special, were wholesome and provided plenty of choice. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean and quiet even though the Airport was close by. Lots of elderly spanish staying in the hotel and surpisingly fun evening entertainment was provided(Elvis impersonator, flamenco dancers, bingo etc). Don't expect theRitz, but it was a nice place to be. Only negative was the breakfast coffee which came from 2 different machines as well as filter jugs but all were equally horrible. tip ;order an expresso from the Bar and add fresh milk, use the microwave to heat it if you want cappucino.

Having read through the reviews below, I would have to add a boring, "Me too". To us it was: - cheap (40 Euros per night, full board, for two people) - cheerful - entertainment every night - safe - nice area - quiet - little or no aircraft noise - full of seniors from Spain - good for the kids - they liked the pool and the beach - a place to get fat (plenty of very low quality food) - good place to celebrate our friend's birthday - we had space for ourselves in the dining hall and in the bar - not a place we will go again - not a place we regret going
