For those who understand European lodging, this hotel is a great budget hotel in a perfect location. We could see the Acropolis from our bathroom. The rooms are typically small, the paint is old, the elevator old. For 80Euro tho, it's fine if you are looking for great location. The people are nice, the free breakfast is nice and the area is very safe (heart of Plaka). I have spent 200euro in Chamonix only to find a larger room with the same cracks in the walls; 130 USD in Kesington/London where the bathroom will hardly close if you are in it!
If you have not stayed in Europe often, this is a great hotel intro for you, do not expect brand new Hampton Inn style suites with furnishings purchased last week.
If you have travelled Europe alot, MYRTO HOTEL is right on the money for a great location, with a typical budget, friendly, yes it looks tired, hotel. Stayed 4 nights. No problems, nice people. Opened up breakfast early for us on our last day.

This hotel had terrible personel and service. The man who was at the front desk had a terrible attitude and treated me and my friend with no respect. he was also the "chef" and made awful food. i would not recommend this hotel to anyone because of the personel...it is too bad it is in such a great location because the staff ruined my experience.

We booked 2 rooms here in January, one for 2 nights and one for 4. Upon realising thatg this was possibly little better than a youth hostel or companions decided to check out when we were and duly informed them on the first evening, thus giving them 24 hrs notice. When everyone checked out, we realised that we BOTH had been charged for 3 nights!!
We phoned the owner and complained, reasonably at first, then when we became insistent he became aggressive.
Never ever ever ever stay in this antiquated dump. The rooms are cold, damp, dirty. The facilities are awful and it is vastly over priced for what it is. If I had paid ?20 a night I would still have felt robbed!
Since we had paid for 3 nights, we considered giving our keys to a vagrant but decided that they could get better accommodation at a shelter or in the park.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Myrto for the New Year 2007 in Athens. The reason I’m writing this review now is because we are again looking for a hotel, this time in Vienna, and thankfully I found this site to read real reviews and not be fooled by self-advertisements hotels usually write about themselves. As many visitors mention here, Myrto hotel is sheer FILTH. The bathroom looked more like a very poorly maintained public toilet: dirt, more dirt, lime scale and non-functional equipment. The room was no different; dirty carpet, furniture, walls, bed cover, curtains etc. The bed sheets were somewhat cleaner, but we were still struggling not to touch anything with our bare skin. I ended up getting a skin rash, which I had never had in my life. Our dirty room window was facing some small enclosed area, very dirty again, full of pigeons that were making noise all nights long. All in all, we tried to stay out of the hotel as much as possible and wanted to leave after the 3rd night even we had already paid for the 4th night. We were joking that the room was trying to kill us.
Not recommended at all. Would not go back there if it was the only hotel in Athens.
