Not bad for the price we paid.

I guess 'you get what you pay for' would be appropriate here. The room was little over 80 euro a night which was by far the cheapest around in opera season. It is about 15 min walk to the old city but its a very pleasant walk unless your a girl in heels then the cobbled stones might push you to get a taxi.
Room was ok, nothing special. It seems a common thing in Italy to have twin beds pushed together instead of doubles which is quite annoying as you book a double and expect a proper double bed. The toilet stank pretty bad but was ok once the lid was kept down.
The breakfast was ok. The staffs friendliness varied. the night porter seemed chirpy. The younger staff at the desk were friendly and helpful but the older staff and day porter seemed put out by anything you asked them. They had no ironing facilities at all.
Overall, if you want cheap then yeah its fine. If you have the money though i'd spend the little bit extra and stay somewhere in the old part of the city.

We enjoyed our stay

We thouroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at the Piccolo. The rooms were clean, the staff was helpful and friendly, the breakfast was good and we were only a 5 minute walk from the train station. Our room overlooked a canal and was very quiet.

Our experience at the hotel piccolo was very bad and actually I don't think that the piccolo hotel deserves his 3 stars.
We had a room with two small twin beds (even if we asked for a double room), a small stinky bathroom and bugs in the room- not good considering that we spent 150 euro.
The personnel was not too friendly, the breakfast in the morning was in the average, nothing special.
Moreover the hotel is 20 minutes far away from the center.
So my suggestion is to avoid this hotel...

This hotel really surprised us, and so did Verona

Rooms: Our room was standard in size. We travelled with our 20 months son old and had a cot in the room. It was a bit tight but still manageable. The room was clean and so were the bathroom and toilets.
Location: The hotel is located within a walking distance from the train station, nevertheless it is quite enough and we did not hear any trains passing by. It is a bit far from the city centre but still easy enough to get there by walk (we did so, twice, with a stroller).
Staff: The staff seemed to be a bit tough in the beginning, but still very courteous, patient, and helpful. We had a mix-up with the order of the cot and they managed to organise one for us in no time.
Breakfast: Continental breakfast, bread, cereals, butter and gem, pastries, and a very nice cappuccino.
Price: Price, for us, was very reasonable considering the location of the hotel.
We stayed only for one night in Verona so we were not looking for something fancy. We preferred something closer to the train station so we could have a quick "gateway" but all in all it was very enjoyable.
