My husband and I recently stayed at the French Quarter Inn for 3 nights to visit Charleston and celebrate our anniversary. We were delighted with the hotel. From the location to the staff to the amenities, everything was geared toward making the customer feel welcomed. We enjoyed the terrace where we could eat our very substantial continental breakfast. Other reviewers have complimented the hotel on the champagne upon reception, the wine and cheese in the afternoon and the cookies and milk at bedtime. These were all part of a lovely experience. The room was extremely quiet, scrupulously clean and comfortable. Every person, from the front desk to the parking valet, was friendly and helpful. I look forward to staying at the French Quarter Inn on our next trip to Charleston.

The reasons I loved it:
- Friendly, helpful, eager service - from the bellboys to the front desk to the maids to the turn-down service. Friendly on the phone and in person
- A glass of champagne on arrival
- Complimentary wine and cheese each afternoon
- Breakfast in Bed
- We were upgraded to a beautiful huge room
- Comfortable beds
- Clean, well kept, CLEAN!
- Walking distance to everything you want to see in Charleston
- Stonesthrow to some of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at....YUMMMMMMMMM!
Reasons I didn't love it:
- I do not have ONE complaint. One of my best hotel stay experiences I've had...and I've stayed at quite a few!

Our stay at the French Quarter Inn just could not have been better. The rooms were great, very clean, comfortable and bigger than I expected. The service was absolutely wonderful -- from the concierge to the maids, everyone was friendly and efficient. The location of the hotel is very convenient -- we parked our car and either walked or took a rickshaw anywhere we wanted to go. We especially enjoyed the wine and cheese in the evening. We took ours outside on the balcony and watched the sun set. I would definitely stay here again -- in fact we tried to extend our stay but the airlines wouldn't cooperate.

Great location, beautiful rooms, with cozy robes, Free breakfast was perfect ( not your average toast & stale muffins ) The 5:00 wine & cheese gave the guest a chance to mingle & share tidbits of where to dine or where the best shopping was.The staff was very helpful , friendly, and informative. I couldn't find any thing I would change about the hotel. If you don't find your stay here wonderful then there is no hope for you & perhaps you should stay home.

Many other reviewers have commented on the hotel facilities - the champagne, cheese and wine, bedtime cookies etc - but what set the hotel apart for us was the staff who made the extra effort of make our stay pleasant.
Some examples...
When advising us about a location for dinner, the reception staff printed off details of several suggested restaurants, and marked up those which were particularly suitable, together with phone numbers etc. We settled on Hanks and had an outstanding meal there.
We wanted a city tour, and were planning to go to the Charleston visitor centre, but the reception staff listened to what we wanted, then called a tour company to book us on a bus tour, which turned out to be excellent.
In the bar attached to Tristram, the restaurant in the hotel, we heard the barman giving an excellent description of some complex and unusual dishes. We wished we had the time to test his expertise on cocktails.
The bellman, despite being a bit pressed by several checkouts at the same time, was cheerful, prompt and efficient in getting our car out, and taking down the luggage.
Overall, an excellent experience in an outstanding hotel.
