The hotel exceeded expectations all the way around. The location is in the middle of everything, but yet tucked back so quiet. The rooms are well appointed with one of the best beds I've slept on. My pregnant wife hasn't slept through the night in months, but did at the Harbourview Inn. The little touches like snacks, cookies, wine/cheese and breakfast add to the flavor of the experience. And the staff was mostly helpful in making our stay better. Thanks for a great weekend!

We stayed at the Harbourview for 4 nights in July 08. It was absolutely beautiful and the perfect location. First of all, our room was huge, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff was accomodating and very nice. We loved the little touches of wine and cheese and cookies and milk in the evenings. Also the breakfast was really pretty good! I am usually picky when it comes to hotels, and the Harborview exceeded my expectations. We feel that it is well worth the money. Despite raining most of the time we were in Charleston, it was an enjoyable stay and a beautiful city. The central location of the Harborview was close to restaurants, tours, plus also had the beautiful view of the harbour. The only small bummer is that if you drive you pretty much have to utilize the valet service (which is the case everywhere in the historic downtown area).

The Harbourview Inn is a lovely place to stay. The location is perfect for visiting Charleston on foot. The rooms are very nice and if you get an oceanview, you will not be disappointed. We found the staff and the service friendly and efficient. Our rooftop breakfast overlooking the water was great! We enjoyed the "happy hour" in the courtyard where we met others from around the country. All in all, I would heartily recommend this Inn. You will not be disappointed. This was our fourth time at the Harbourview! We booked this time for our anniversary. Check in was a breeze and the staff members were great as always. The HVI staff had a complimentary bottle of champagne sent to our room shortly after we arrived. A very nice lady at the desk recommended the restaurant High Cotton for our dinner and made the reservations for us. It was absolutely the best meal we've ever had. Whether you've been to Charleston or not, you owe it to yourselves to stay at the Harbourview. They do the complimentary wine and cheese in the evenings, and cookies and milk at night. They also have complimentary breakfast that can be delivered to your room or you can have it delivered upstairs on the deck. This hotel is above all because all you have to do is ask for something and they will get it for you (within reason of course). It's not an "up in your face" atmosphere either. If you are looking for an awesome romantic get a way with your spouse young or older you've found the right place at the H'VI. We've stayed in a harbourview room and historic room that has an exposed brick wall. Both styles are nice. The rates are not unreasonable for what you get. My family and I just returned from our first trip to Charleston. We really enjoyed our visit and loved staying at the HarbourView Inn and will absolutely stay there again on future visits. Not only was the location perfect, but the staff was wonderful. We traveled with our 5 year old and 3mo old daughters and felt very comfortable with them at this hotel. We stayed in the historic part of the Inn and found the exposed brick charming. The continental breakfast was perfect for our family. We had it delivered to our room every morning so that our oldest daughter could eat at her leisure. Once we got ready we just walked out the front door and were immediately in the heart of Charleston...amazing restaurants, views of the harbor, gorgeous homes, quaint shops and fun activities for the kids. Each night our daughter looked forward to returning to the hotel for the warm cookies and milk. A note to families traveling with children. The hotel is right next to the waterfront park, which is a fun "cooling" activity for the kids. If you are staying at the hotel, I would recommend taking your kids to the waterfront park earlier than later. We noticed that by 10am or a little after, buses of kids would arrive and it would get very crowded. We visited it around 8:30am and had it all to ourselves. A few restaurants that we recommend (all within walking distance)....Fleet Landing, Cru Cafe, Blossom. If you are traveling with an infant, we recommend bringing some sort of carrier (like a sling or Baby Bjorn) as many of the streets are cobblestone and maneuvering a stroller can get tricky. In regards to some of the comments on a few reviews....yes, there is a trolley that idles outside of the hotel, but it is not that loud and it usually is not there until late morning, the same with the garbage truck. We had our car parked with the valet and did not have long waits for when we needed it. Again, we would absolutely recommend this hotel and look forward to going back sometime in the future.
