I booked through the website which gave the best rates (unlike most properties, Internet rate was better than AAA rate - if you're staying for a weekend make sure you get the weekend special). The room was large and extremely comfortable. It even had a kitchenette. The location is excellent for a tourist, walking distance to 2 malls and the Winchester House. The rose garden and Rosicrucian Museum are quite close by car. You get an excellent full cooked to order breakfast, and a school cafeteria quality dinner, acceptable for its convenience if you're in a hurry.
I had no trouble getting the excellent Internet rate when I arrived, unlike some of the other reviewers. Although I had no trouble, I would recommend that you bring a printout of your reservation to any hotel, just in case.

Traffic noise (motorcycles, cars, people on street level) kept me awake.

This is definitely a two star hotel with breakfast included. I booked the room via the hotel website and called to confirmed. My reservation never showed up on their end, but I showed them my paperwork to guaranty my rate. We checked in after 9:30 pm and left before 10 am.
Room #208 is outdated and has a musky/moldy smell to it. And the street noise kept me awake all night. Don't worry about using the alarm clock, the traffic from outside your window will wake you up.
On the other hand, the staff is wonderful and helpful. The breakfast was decent. The jacuzzi tub is big, but I was too afraid to use it not knowing when it was last cleaned. There was good water pressure coming out of the shower heads.
I might stay here again - as long as I DON"T get a room facing the noisy streets AND I get a room that was recently remodeled.
Has anyone stayed in a "remodeled room"?

This is a terrible place!

This place was an absolute disgrace. My room was supposed to be a non-smoking room but it clearly wasn't by the smell. I then went down to ask for my money back, which they refused to return because of a 24 hour cancellation policy. Instead I was given another room on the other side which smelled worse. The carpet even had spots and just didn't look clean. There was supposed to be free WiFi internet which wasn't available and my phones didn't work. I used my cell phone to call the front desk for a fix-it guy and was told he would be right up. He never showed up. When I called again 2 hours later I was told he had just left. I was very disappointed with my stay there and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Valley Jerk Inn

My Girlfriend and I had stayed at the Valley Park Inn for 1 night. The room was fine, there really was nothing to complain about . yet there was nothing to right home about either, except the fact that there staff has a thieving problem. As well the poor management performed by the name of Sam. I left my Hygene bag in the bathroom there on a Sat. morning. I called that night and was told to call back tomorrow, as ther was no house keeping on duty.and no one there to cover the front desk. So Sunday i called around 10;30A.M. then I was told housekeeping never comes in on Sundays. So Monday morning I show up at the front desk and once again wait for someone to show up to cover the front desk When my Bag was finally brought to me ,I noticed right away how light it was.I opened it to find my most expensive items missing. After trying to persue this matter, I find only more lack of concern, when "sam" tells me theres nothing he can do . Oh , but he would offer me 10% off my next visit. Probably because they didn,t get a chance to go thru my wallet or my girlfriend underwear.
Beware of rate switching!!!

As another guest has mentioned, rates seem to be set on the whim of who you talk to. Be sure to get your rate for the duration of your stay in writing. Rate quoted at phone booking did not match with what we were told when we checked in. In fact, desk clerk gave 4 different rates while we were disputing the difference! Hotel is a bit tired and rooms need updating-carpets, especially.
