Booked This hotel through easy breaks. Felt a bit dubious afterwards when I read some of trip advisor reviews. We arrived for a three night stay to be welcomed by friendly receptionist. The hall carpets ar a bit worn but this is an old hotel. The room was clean & tidy, the beds were great & the bathroom clean also. Breakfast was buffet style & was more than adequate for all tastes. There was a different menu every night & the food was delicisious & plenty of it. The waiting staff were very attentive & friendly.
The location is ideal to visit many places.
I would definitely go back & recommend it to friends.
The only down side was the bar closing at 11pm & not much in the way of entertainment but with the price you pay for this trip it is understandable. The value for money is excellent.

We are Canadians, and stayed at the Arrochar as part of a coach trip from the west of England to Scotland. The hotel is in a fantastic location and if you are lucky enough to have a front-facing room, the views are breathtaking. However, it was a Fawlty Towers experience, but more shabby. The room was fairly large, but the bed was long overdue for throwing out. Lumps and bumps everywhere. The bedspread was stained and very grubby-looking, though the rest of the bedding was clean. We had to ask for soap for the bathroom, and for the TV to be hooked up. The shower curtain was spotted with mold. Carpets throughout the hotel needed replacing, they were very dirty and threadbare. Windows were dirty, the whole place needed a good clean. The food was good, though pretty basic. Dining room staff were a bit of a mix, head waiter was Scottish, two other servers were Polish, and one scared the heck out of me, she was quite fierce! A full dining room was a real challenge to them, and it became a joke that at breakfast there was only one bottle of HP sauce that had to be passed from table to table. We had to decide at breakfast what we wanted for dinner that night, by checking items on a menu. Reception and bar staff were miserable. On checking out, we didn't even get an acknowledgement when we dropped off the key. There wasentertainment on only one night during the week, but the lone singer turned up late, at 10 pm, and we had early checkout the next morning, so most of us went to bed.
This hotel was booked through the coach tour company, and our driver was not impressed with them either, so hopefully they will drop this one from the itinerary. It's a shame, as it could be a fantastic place, given the great location.

my partner and myself booked throw easybreaks for a 2night stay, dinner, bed and breakfast. we use easybreaks alot and have never had any problems. we read the reviews before we booked but for the price we paid the dated hotel didnt put us off. we work hard running our own business and just wanted a quite relaxing weekend. we arrived late afternoon , the hotel staff were friendly and our room was basic but fine,so far so good. we went down for dinner, the dinning room was not that busy but staff looked very flustered, our dinner was ok,we didnt expect top nosh at bargin prices, just felt we got rushed in an out. next morning we went down for breakfast, we sat down and got ignored for a good 10min,s or so, then the head waiter came up to us and in a very horrible manner asked us what we wanted, we said coffee and a cooked breakfast, we were told that their was not a lot left and stormed off. we felt like we had just walked in to some strangers house and asked them to cook us breakfast, not welcome at all. the waiters manner got even worse, by this point my partner got up and pulled him to one side and asked him what his problem was, he said we had bent some plastic flowers on the table the night before, he was so rude to us he had me in tears, i walked out the dinning room. we went and asked to speak to the manager, and when we told her what had happened i have to say she didnt look shocked. she said we could get our meals served in our room, but i wasnt going to spend our weekend hiding away because of a rude waiter, who had far more issues than a bent flower. the hotel refunded our money and booked us in to the argyle hotel in inverary for the sunday night, which they also paid for. i will never go back to the arrochar hotel, not because it needs a face lift and not because the food is basic just because i cant understand why any hotel would put such a horrible man front of house, ps the argyle hotel in inverary was fantastic, clean rooms ,stunning views, friendly helpful staff, and really really good food.
