Do not stay
Guest name: JayannMarlborough, Marlborough
Do not stay at this hotel if you you want to use the cooking facilities! We chose this hotel for its location and also because we needed to have full cooking facilities as we were travelling with our two grandchildren. On check in we were given an info sheet and told to read it when we arrived in our apartment. It stated that due to the sensitive nature of the fire alarms the door to the bathroom/laundry needed to be kept closed and also that when cooking the extractor fan was required to be on full capacity ( no problem here common sense really ) and to only use low heat! This in a kitchen with full cooking facilities!! The info sheet also advised that should the fire brigade be called out due to negligence a A$900 fee would be charged. Needless to say we heeded these instructions but in spite of our best endeavours the alarm was activated. A visit from reception advised that we had done everything right however the fire brigade did arrive and again on inspection we were told that this was "another one of these set too fine" We were needless to say very upset and our grandchildren were crying. No mention however was made of any negligence on our part and on checking out a few days later again no mention was made of the incident and we were advised that as our accommodation had been all prepaid there was nothing further to pay. Imagine our surprise when on our return home and checking our Visa account a week later we discovered that A$900 had been unilaterally deducted from our account! This had been taken after our checkout and departure! Communication with the hotel since has been difficult and unsatisfactory. We believed we had hired an apartment with facilities that should have been fit for the purpose we hired them for and that this was not the case.
Clean and comfortable

We stayed one night in a one bedroom deluxe apartment. Two adults and one child. The apartment was comfortable for this number of persons and we were happy with the condition of furnishings and appliances.
The Reception staff were friendly and helpful, even the cleaning staff had smiles. I found the ammenties to be clean and tidy (including the lifts). The pool and spa were great, although not large.
There was construction happening in a lot on the other side of the hotel (pool side) during business hours. Would recommend staying road side until construction complete. Check with hotel prior to booking would be best.
Our apartment overlooked Melbourne street with a large balcony. We could see a vista of city lights (very pretty). There were a number of handy shops and restaurants close by, unfortunately we were in transit and didn't get a chance to explore further.
We would definately book and stay there again should the occaision arise.
Just a quick note in general: Queensland does not embrace Daylight Saving. Be prepared for complete daylight at 4:30am (in November anyway).

On arrival we were met by an obnoxious smell as soon as we entered the building . The whole place was grubby and smelly . The lift had been used as a toilet . Our room was greasy to the touch and the kitchen appliances were full of crumbs , couldn't even find a clean glass for a drink of water. Carpets were sticky underfoot, matress on sofa bed was foam packaging. Our room door handle was tried 4 times in the 10 minutes we were in the room, Called a taxi to takes us away and was told not to wait out on sreet ,this area not being safe for tourist at night!

We stayed at the West End Cental Hotel Brisbane for seven nights. We had an apartment on the first floor which was nicely appointed. It had a fully equipped kitchen and also it's own laundry room which was great for washing and drying clothes after a day on the beach or around the pool. The apartment was not huge but more than adequate. It also had it's own balcony which was nice but the view from it was not good ,as opposite there were several industrial units . The pool was small and was filled with salt water.Having said this it was clean and tidy and the seperate spa pool was always lovely and hot. There was a sauna aswell which is free to use.Location of this hotel was not too bad.It takes around 25 minutes to walk accross the bridge to Queen St Mall or if you prefer 5 minutes in a taxi which costs around 6 Dollars. On the whole this hotel was great for the cost, but I found the photos of the hotel on the website to be a little misleading as it does not show that it's location is around many industrial units.Having said that ,if location is not an issue this was a very nice hotel and I would happily recommend it .
Clean and convenient

This is a friendly, clean and well located property. Supermarket is across the road and many restaurants and cafes right outside the door. Asian, Punjabi, Vietnamese, fish and chips, gelati, cafes, less than a minute's walk. Great bookshop up the road on Boundary Street and also some very hip designer fashion shops. Easy walk into the city too (10-15 mins) or take a bus.
Service was friendly and efficient, parking secure. Full laundry in our one bedroom deluxe unit was very handy indeed.
We stayed two nights with two kids. Unit was pretty small but sufficient for us. Good value for internet rates.
I'd rate this more as a four star and the only drawback to our stay was a complete 180 degree view of rooftop airconditioners. So no, we didn't spend time on the balcony.
