I stayed at this place for a couple of nights for a business trip to Brisbane. I had a hotel room which was fairly spacious, clean and had all the standard facilities you would expect plus I had a small balcony. Rooms were nice and clean and there was plenty of wardrobe space - the shower was a good size too. The hotel itself had a small outdoor pool and spa but it was too cold for me to use these. The location was great and right next to Southbank. Staff were friendly - the reception closes at 11pm so if you go out late you have to take the code with you to get in after 11pm. There was also a small restaurant and bar in the hotel.
I would happily stay here again - good location and a good standard of hotel.

I booked this hotel on the web because it is close to the convention centre at a reasonable price. My room was on the top floor with spectacular views. Friendly and helpful staff. There is a coffee shop
on the ground level with good food. A very pleasant place to stay.

Good choice for the Gabba

Three of us booked an apartment at Hillcrest as it appeared on the map to be handy for the Gabba. We arrived jet lagged from UK at 8am and they looked after our bags till check in time at 1pm. The apartment was extremely spacious, the main lounge/kitchen being roughly 9m by 5m, with a balcony running the entire length. One of us slept on a bed in the main room, the other two in a twin bedded room. There was a spacious bathroom with washing machine etc. The decor was a bit tired but otherwise it was clean and well equipped. Servicing was done daily by pleasant maids. The main scoring point was the closeness of the Gabba (15 minutes walk down Vulture Street) and the South Bank with its gardens and restaurants (5-10 minutes walk in the other direction). The Hillcrest restaurant was gloomy and uninspired. The nearest convenience store was 10 minutes away and a long hike uphill with heavy shopping. But overall we found it a really convenient choice for the Gabba. We met an Aussie who told us he'd been using Hillcrest for this purpose for 20 years.

Hubby and I won tix to the last Brisbane Lions game at the Gabba and didn't want to drive back to the Sunshine Coast after the game so decided to stay in Brissy overnight - big mistake... It was the night of the RIver Skyfire - everything was booked and all we could find was a room in this hotel for A$200 a night. Of course, not having any options we booked. On arrival we checked in and found it to have a great view of the river/city/Southbank, but at the time we weren't that interested, it was really hot in the room as it got the afternoon sun directly into the room. We looked for an air-con panel to adjust the temperature but couldn't find one so went to reception to enquire. Apparently, the hotel is on one temperature for every room, so whilst it was really hot in our room because of the sun, it was quite cool on the other side of the hotel in the shade and nothing could be done because it was set for 'winter'. The room was very basic and certainly not worth what we paid for the night - lucky to be two stars.... Nice and close to the Gabba, Southbank and the Mater hospital but not worth the money we paid.
