This place was absolutely disgusting. I am considering calling the New Mexico health department with a complaint. The rooms are filthy and smell of mold, mildew and urine. Not to mention that the furnishings seem like they were bought used from an old Motel 6 and the mattress is rock hard. The exterior of the hotel looks quite pleasent, but the interior is a nightmare. I can't believe they charge $120 to $220 a night for this dump. It should be illegal. For your own health and well being STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

I wanted to stay in the downtown area and just my luck July is "High Season" in Santa Fe. Called around for rates and this hotel was the only one I found under $200/nt. I really needed a downstairs room but none were available when I checked in. The clerk assured me that the next day, someone would contact me to arrange a room move to the 1st floor. They did exactly what they told me they would do...very good service. Furnishings were a bit outdated but the room was quite clean and I experienced little noise despite the hotel being full. You can't beat the location...close to EVERYTHING of interest in the downtown area. All the flowers throughout the grounds were quite nice and tasteful. At check out, the shuttle service to the Alburquerque airport was late so I called them. They told me they didn't have my reservation so the Hotel arranged another shuttle (last minute). I'm coming back in November for a large conference so I know where I will be staying. Before posting my comments, I read a few which I totally disagree with, but see for yourself

I must admit that when I first booked my stay at Garrett's, I was a bit apprehensive due to the other comments I read on Trip Advisor. We had 16 rooms there for a wedding. All of us experienced VERY CLEAN and comfortable rooms. A couple of the rooms had soft mattresses but overall no issues whatsoever. The Pool was fantastic...loved all the flowers that surrounded the pool. Can't beat the location! Had a few wedding guests staying at other area hotels that paid 2 to 3 times more than me, and, they weren't impressed with their stay. Santa Fe is is truly enchanting and our stay at Garrett's added to our satisfaction. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Had to go to Walmart to buy pillows and pillow cases that I could put my head on. Bed was gross. Cleaning is not a priority. This place is a bargain (comparatively), but everything is a trade-off. EEEuuuuwwwwww! Will not go back. It's gross.

We stayed from May 22-25, 2004 and I finally am getting around to writing a review. Bottom line is that Santa Fe is an expensive place to stay. While this place certainly wasn't on the top of any list, it was the only place within our budget at the time that was within walking distance to the central square of the city. You get what you pay for. They were pleasant people to deal with and even took money off our bill when we mentioned the dirty carpet at checkout.
