Not bad for the price!

The Vacation Inn is only about a block north of the freeway on "business 8", so the location is just fine. The rooms are quite large and include a table and chairs to sit at. We were told on the phone that the pool was heated and fantastic, however it turned out that the heater in the pool went out a long time ago and has never been repaired. For El Centro, this is not a bad choice however we wouldn't recommend a "vacation" at the Vacation Inn. It's good for a night or so.

With #1 In El Centro rating, I had to give the Vacation Inn a try when I was in the area. As usual, Trip Advisor did not steer me wrong. Good room. Clean. Wi-Fi. A few places to eat nearby. For the price, it was unbeatable in a part of the country where a good hotel room can be difficult to find.

Got a clean, spacious room for 60 bucks! Plus free egg breakfast served by a waitress, and a free glass of wine in the evening! Large bathroom with ceramic tile and Hookless shower curtain. Comfy faux-leather reclining chair too to watch cable TV. Quiet room. No hassles. Near Mexicali and Glamis Dunes ...

First off, if you decide to stay here, make sure the rate they quote you is the one you get. We made a last-minute booking and were quoted $52 a night. We were charged $11 more at the hotel. By the time I realized that, I had already paid it (a function of having arrived very late and being very tired). Anyway, be careful with the prices.
W\e used it as a stopping point between Phoenix and San Diego, so that made its location, right off I-8, just about perfect. It falls into the Days Inn category of travelers' motels functional and clean but not too clean. They have a pool and a restaurant, though the restaurant was not open any time we were there. The room itself was large enough, with a TV that carried tons of channels. The bathroom was ok-- no hair dryer and a shower head that had seen better days.
The beds were reasonably comfortable -- not the best in the world, but ok. But the pilows were flat and hard and difficult to use. My wife suggested that a small pile of clothes might be softer, and she was right about that.
Now, pillows are generally not a deal-breaker, so here's what's important. If you can get this place for $50 or so, it's a fair deal. At $60 or more, you probably should look for a deal at other properties in the area.

Holy Cow dude! This place was only $50 bucks, We asked for a room by the pool. Room is large, table to eat at, fridge, microwave, stove, grills by the pool, reclining chair in room, bathroom clean, looks like fresh paint in room, nice little kitchen area, and a air conditioner that will freeze you right out oif the room. IT WAS GREAT. This is a GREAT find. We had stayed in a hotel next door a few years back (Howard Johnson) on the other side of the hotel (don't make that mistake and pull in the wrong driveway).
To our surprise we got this great room by the pool. All these rooms over here look like the corporate side for corp travelers. You can't beat the price anywhere. iI wish we had been here the last 4 days instead of across the street at the Ramada. The pool is clean and just a great find! It's like a small apartment, very confrotable and the PRICE COWABUNGA!
