Hotel was a great value and close to many places. The only concern I had was the location. The staff and cleanliness of the room were very good.

You would have to be on drugs to stay at this hotel, and then you would not be lonely. The place is the grossest hotel I have ever stayed in. I left after one night of horror. I even cut short my business trip to Atlanta by two days, as I was so disturbed. The hotel is fenced in (like a maximum security jail) with wrought iron fences to keep out the druggies who stand on the sidewalk and look up at your room. There wasn't even a hangar in the rooms. The bedspreads looked like they were retrieved from a dumpster and were old and stained. There are no non smoking rooms, and the rooms reeked from smoke. All of my clothes and suitcases stink from the smoke smell. No maid service. This will take me days to get over.

I had to attend a conference in Atlanta at the Rennaisance Hotel and was looking for a cheap hotel nearby. This one was only two blocks away and was a great price too.
I did read some reviews on the Internet and found mixed reviews but decided to test the hotel out myself. I was more than pleasantly surprised.
The starting price was $54.99 per night but as I booked for a whole week I got a weekly rate so the room with two double beds ended up being less than 30 bucks per night. Cool.
I phoned the hotel before booking and the staff were polite and helpful on the phone and in person too when I did encounter them.
The surrounding area of the hotel is actually OK. The thing that causes the challenge is that there's a soop kitchen on the corner near the hotel and a convenience store on the other corner. There is a frequent traffic of homeless people to and from the store but I was never once stopped or hassled for money.
The people nearby are really harmless and there's no real need to worry at all.
The room was clean and adequate for my needs. I didn't need to pay Ritz prices for a posher hotel - I just needed a place to sleep and put my head down.
I recommend this hotel highly if you want a basic yet clean hotel within walking distance of downtown and MARTA station.
I'd also like to thank the staff and security guard (thanks Alex!)who gave me a warm welcome on my arrival and helped me out whenever they could.
Thank you Savannah Suites for a great price for basic facilities near to downtown.
If I return to Atlanta again I will be booking into this economical hotel.

Avoid Savannah Suites like the plague

Avoid this 'hotel' like the plague. Under no circumstances should anyone stay at this location. While being only about 1.5 miles from downtown Atlanta attractions is tempting, do not stay here. Locks on many rooms do not work. Our room lock fortunately did work, although the doorframe had been patched due to someone kicking the door inward. Also, a window of a room two doors down was broken in the middle of the night after someone threw something through it. The rooms were filthy, contained bugs, and room cleaning by staff was nonexistent. We did not receive any fresh towels or linens during our stay. If you hope to iron any clothing, be prepared to leave your driver's license with the front desk as collateral due to the frequency of iron theft at the location. Further, the 'hotel' was less than 500 feet from the largest soup kitchen/ transient hangout I've ever seen. I was asked for money, on average, four times a day. I would never recommend this location to anyone.

The virtual tour is a joke. The place is a dump! Stinks with cigareete smoke. Bathroom fixture on the floor. Footprint on the ceiling over the bed! Beds so old and worn out Goodwill wouldn't take them. 1 block from a homeless shelter all kinds of folks wandering around in the parking lot. Watched a drug deal happen out the window. Security guards a joke. Unless you are desparate, stay away! No respectable family would be caught dead there. It is not worth the 29 dollars a nite.
