We booked by phone, indicating that we wanted a room that would accommodate us and our granddaughter. We received an email confirmation with a price listed. We arrived after check in time, but no one appeared at the front desk for 10 minutes. When the attendant got there, she told us we owed an extra $20 for our granddaughter. When we tried to use the toilet, we found it was broken -- missing a part in the innards. The handyman had "gone for the day" so the staff put us in other rooms. The rooms were only so-so and the breakfast was nothing special. Not at all what I had expected for nearly $300.

We stayed in the Magnolia which was beautiful and roomy. The estate grounds were beautiful and main house warm and cozy. But the breakfast was ridiculous. We expected a normal B&B breakfast but we received cold ceral and cheeses. I was so disappointed as it really left a bad taste in our mouth. We wouldn't go back for the price. We expected a nice breafast from a $200 a night B&B.

After making a reservation and receiving a confirmation number for a stay here on 8/21/07, I was contacted by an employee who advised me that my reservation was not going to be honored. When I inquired about an overflow hotel that they were referring guest to, the employee (Mark Maddalon) laughed rather snottily and said "The entire city is sold out. This room has been reserved for a while. Your reservation WILL NOT be honored". I'll be contacting a manager about the attitude, but I wouldn't stay here if THEY paid ME.
wonderful stay!

we had a truly enjoyable time at the van landingham estate-- it is a gorgeous property, we stayed in the attic--perfect for a family since there are a few small rooms with beds attached to but not in view of the main bed, so if you want to watch tv after the kids go to sleep it won't disturb them.
we were so warmly received by the front desk attendant, and she continued to take GREAT care of us throughout our stay. one night we had to come home early and missed dinner because my daughter was really overtired from the flight and was having a tantrum--and the staff gave us a to go menu and gave us advise on what to order, and demanded the delivery boy to make a second trip back to us with an item he forgot and also bring a free dessert.
we were very well cared for, and it was much appreciated, as we are accostomed to being treated like 2nd class citizens when we go to a b&b with a child.
i got a chance to peek into many of the rooms, and they all looked fabulous! no duds.
