The whole experience at Ameri-Stay was horrible! The towels were wet from all the moisture in the room, it smelled like mildew and when I pulled the covers on the bed back, my fiancee and I saw a bug and beard hairs on the sheets. I called the front desk and reported what was going on and was told that there was no housekeeping at night but that I was welcome to come get sheets and change them myself. I went to the front desk and the employee was lying down on a sofa with a remote in her hand. It was late at night so I asked for a different room and was given one. We checked out early the next morning! I have to say that this is probably the dirtiest place that I have ever stayed.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel based on it's location to family we were visiting. What a terrible mistake to stay with an off brand hotel chain!!!
Our room was about as bad as it gets (unit #106). Unfortunately, we didn't discover this until the 2nd day as we arrived late in the evening. There were roaches and crickets on the floor. The A/C unit was not cool and leaked into our room. The floor was sopping wet (even after we laid down towels) and the room remained damp (like a house cellar). There was a hole in the shower wall that the hotel covered with a suction cup ornament.
The service is awful!!! We approached the hotel desk and overheard the front desk girl tell a customer she was happy to get some good feedback from him after hearing so much bad from other customers. Then we told her we had some bad feedback. We advised her on the above issues. She told us we should have checked out by 12pm if we didn't like the room. She indicated the hotel was sold out so we couldn't change rooms. We asked her to find us a different hotel as we did not want to stay in the room a 2nd night. She again stated we should have checked out at 12pm and offered us 3 hotel towels to sop up the wet floor. We pressed the issue and were offered a "discount" of $13.00 per night (missing the point that we didn't care about the cost but didn't want to stay in the room another evening). Ultimately the conversation went nowhere and we asked for the hotel manager to contact us.
The hotel looks "OK" in the pictures online. It's basically a big box with rooms inside. However, we think you should beware. We were being charged $293.00 for two nights. This hotel is not even worth considering unless your acceptable balance of cost vs. quality is very low.

I stayed over a Sunday night,as my son was graduating late Sunday afternoon. It is a reasonable price for a king bed-non-smoking.It does feature a nice indoor pool and hot tub. When we arrived the water in the hot tub was dirty and too low to work. When my wife asked at the front desk about it, they immediately dispatched maintenance and cleaned and re-filled the tub. the pool sides needed some cleaning, but the pool appeared clean and was a comfortable temperature. The morning breakfast (complimentary) was fairly limited in variety but very adequate with cereal, sweetrolls, fruit, milk, coffee, juice and somewhat unique was fresh batter and a waffle maker in which you can cook a fresh waffle. The room was clean and was adequately furnished, but no refrigerator or mocrowave, a table but no desk or pen or notepaper. it did have a safe, but you are charged extra for it whether you use it or not($1.50)/night.Overall, a fair price for a comfortable clean room, a step below Hamton Inn or Holiday Express, and since it was near my son's house I would stay there again when I visit him the next time

This place is in kind of an odd location, midway between downtown "old" Wilmington and the beach. Still, it offers nice rooms, good and hospitable service, a fine indoor pool and whirlpool and a decent free continental breakfast for not a lot of money.
WARNING: If you're not a smoker, stay off the top floor if possible. There are non-smoking rooms, but it is not a non-smoking floor. So there are smokers who violate hotel policy and smoke in the hallway, which the hotel realistically cannot do much about. Save yourself the irritation and stay on an all-non-smoking floor if possible.
