Hotel is about 10 mins from Wenceslas Square and then another 10-15 mins from there to Ols Town Square. The rooms are actually a lot smaller than they look on the website but are ok, bar the wardrobes look like they are MFI and fall apart.
The one thing to watch is their Exchange rate from Euro's to Krona. We reserverd via laterooms.com in Euros and when we got there the hotel converted the Euros into Czech Krona at 26.5 Krona to the Euro which makes a significant difference to the price of your room. This added about ?15 per night for our room as we had based it on Euro's into Pounds.

We stayed at the Athena Palace for two nights. It was ideally situated for our purpose, being no more than about 15 minutes' walk from each of the State Opera and the National Theatre. Our rooms were situated on the third floor (no elevator) and were totally adequate for our short stay. Major plus points were the friendliness and 'can-do' attitude of the staff and the extent and variety of the inclusive buffet breakfast.
This is a truly local hotel, the antithesis of one within an international group. It is redolent with the flavour of central Europe: if you are seeking anonymity and slick business support, this is not for you.

We spent 5 nights at this hotel, 1/2 block off the main street with the tourist trams #22 & #23 that go to the back side of the castle. Easy walking to anywhere in old town. Rooms were modest but clean; they were willing to move us to a slightly larger room. Rooms have small fridge to stash your own beer or soda (buy at the market up the street).
Fantastic breakfast buffet included with price. There is free internet available right off the lobby. Staff pleasant and helpful.

It was tough to find a good rate in Prague and booked this place through venere.com. The hotel is a little off the beaten path (10 minute walk to Wenceslas Square and 20-25 minutes to old town square) but worth it. Beautiful rooms (hard-wood floor, full queen bed, great bathroom). Non-smoking available. Quiet street so you can open your window. Fans in the rooms. Best breakfast we had in Europe (stayed at 5 hotels). Free internet.
There is no elevator/lift, so you have to carry your bags up long flights (but we are young, so it wasn't a big deal).
I also recommend the walking tours advertised in the lobby (the one with the yellow umbrella). We did the 4 hour tour that left from Wenceslas Square and it was awesome. The ghost tour at night was also a hoot.
