It's hard to believe we've been back a month now, What a pleasure it was to go back to Italy again, and this time, to stay in one place for 8 days! And we couldn't have stayed in a better place than the absolutely quaint and lovely Villa Romana. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay in the Amalfi Coast any better if we had stayed in a 5 star hotel. The accomodations, amenities and staff were very satisfactory. The location of the hotel was central and very easy to grab the local bus from. We had 2 adjacent rooms, and felt safe enough that we kept our doors open most of the time. The bathroom is large compared to most hotels, and the rooms were cleaned everyday. The hotel is actually VERY clean. The food was good, and the staff was very accomodating. My only negatives are: the beds are a bit hard, but I've traveled all over the world, and beds are a hit or miss. The AC doesn't get officially turned on in Italy until June ( I know this from my previous trips), so the terrace doors had to be opened at night. The bugs weren't the problem, the street noise could keep you up some nights. But this is part of the fun of staying with the locals, and we felt so safe there. After a couple of glasses of wine...what noise?ZZZZZ...
I recommend this hotel whole heartedly. You get the feel of living in a small town in Italy, sip a cup of cappucino and watch the locals across the street in the little square. What a lovely time we had!

Minori is a wonderful place to stay on the Amalfi Coast. It's not as busy as other towns, but the location is convenient if you'd like to visit other towns along the coast. The hotel itself was perfectly adequate, but it is most definitely not a 4 star property. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was just fine. I have no complaints about the towels, but the elevator was quite small. The hotel seems to be undergoing some renovations at this time. I also enjoyed the pool, and it was never crowded. The hotel price was extremely reasonable, but the hotel was a bit noisy. Do be warned about those SITA buses. We had a miserable experience on one. If you have Euros to spare, consider taking a taxi. Expensive, but it was worth it to us.
However, unless you enjoy extremely bland food with no spices whatsoever, do not purchase the plan that includes dinner with your meal!! I think a lot of tour groups stay there, and that is the reason for the bland food. They probably need to please a lot of people, and end up pleasing no one. There are so many other options for dining. We LOVED the Cafe Europa just down the Via Vittorio Emanuelle along the harbor - we ended up eating there every night. Their food was just delicious, and extremely reasonable. Also, across from the hotel is a gelateria-bar-bakery named Gambardello's. We had gelato and/or wine there every evening. They also make their own limoncello, and specialize in limone profiteroles, but sadly we ran out of time and were never able to sample these specialties. Enjoy Minori and the Amalfi Coast - it is so lovely!!

Hotel review- Villa Romana Minori

The Hotel Villa Romana is based in Minori, a small residential town on the Amalfi coast a great starting point for exploring Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Capri, Iscia island and other neighbouring towns. We chose Minori because it was described as a quiet residential town and the hotel Villa Romana offered its own swimming pool and was only a short walk to the beach. On paper this 4 star hotel looks like a perfect choice for anyone wanting to visit the Amalfi coast.
The experience however was different. Upon arrival we were sent to a first floor room which unfortunatley had a very noisey neighbour the staff did understand and we were moved to a forth floor room very quickly. The hotel overlooks a main street in Minori and it is a busy road which creates a lot of noise so you can't really open your windows at night and expect to sleep. The air conditioning unit was clearly very old a nd terrifically noisey as well with a tendency to stop working for no reason. Our evenings were uncomfortable and sleeping was difficult. I also have a dust allergy which soon became a problem due to poor standards of cleaning in the room, some of the shelves in the room were thick with dust upon inspection. The hotel itself was very humble, the bathroom provided no soap, no shampoo, no free stuffd which you might expect from a 4 star hotel, just cheap liquid soaps with broken pumps. Hot countries like italy are also prone to insect life and there are lots of ants in Amalfi. The hotel room was cleaned once a day, however not enough to rid the bathroom of ants - other hotels I would later discover clean their bathrooms 2 to 3 times a day. Finally, the towels on the bathroom are worth a mention, as I guess they were 15 years old and certainly felt like sand paper with no softness left in them. This hotel offers no creature comforts and I can't believe it carries a 4 star rating. Minori has a local cultural festival for its community at the beggining of September, a loud all night affiar and probably much fun for local children but for English speaking tourists its a noisy, amateurish event which in the end prompted us to leave Minori 3 days early. The hotel offered no apology or refund at all, lied about the duration of the festival and provided no assistance in helping us leave indeed telling us this option was impossible and putting obstacles in our way. My overall impression of Villa Romana, is an unprofessional hotel , penny pinching and very humble in a busy residential part of town.
